The Japanese government demands phone manufacturers to embed within their phones an always-on shutter sound. That's because there are creepy weirdos that use their cameras on their phone to take upskirt photos on the subway and what not. Hence - the shutter sound is always on. Doesn't matter if the silence switch is flicked, if headphones are connected, it's irrelevant...
Before 10.1, you could set up Assistive Touch to be a Mute button, that once pressed really did mute the shutter sound, but now no more. I'm dying to find a legit hack for this.

How bizarre. Thanks didn't know.

Ok, anyone else got a Japanese iPhone 7 and is severely pissed that they found out about the AssistiveTouch cheat to silence the camera and fixed it in 10.1? I just want to take pictures without being bedazzled by the "CHI-CHINK!!!" shutter sound... Is that too much to ask for?

well, you can't really be pissed at them if they're complying with the japanese gov't.

it's not even mandatory by law. And actual cameras (point and shoot ones, for instance) don't make such a sound at all and there's hardly an issue with that. Camera phones, on the other hand...
I don't mind them complying with t he Japanese government, I just think that as a non-Japanese I should be offered an outing for this issue.

I think the reasoning could be that it's much harder for anyone to discern what (and when) exactly someone is photographing using a cellphone, as opposed to a regular point and shoot camera. Hence the different regulations that are in place.

But I really have nothing else to back up that claim, just musing here, that's all. Kind of makes sense, though, at least to me.

In Japan, that doesn't silence the camera shutter sound. There's no way to turn off the shutter sound on those phones.
These regional differences are kind of weird.

Chinese iPhones have this really annoying low battery noise at 20% and 10%, sounds like a dying robot. Will play regardless of the phone being muted or not. Absolutely no toggle anywhere to disable this either.

This happens even on iOS 10.0.3. When you install any new app, by default Background app refresh used to be turned on for that app only, but in since iOS 10, installing new app or even update (especially Google apps) turns on BAR for all apps and requires to manually turn it off one by one.

This just happened on my iPad, all apps had BAP enabled despite me having disabled it for many apps. Is this a recurring thing or happened to you just once? Reported this bug to Apple but trying to understand exactly how it is caused.

I have a 6s and cannot skip songs via my car's Bluetooth since updating to iOS 10.1. Also the song and artist info does not display on my car's radio screen anymore.

Interestingly, BT playback in my car has more intermittent static and choppiness since updating to 10.1 -- particularly when using the phone while in the car (as in while parked). Wonder if others are experiencing such things and if there's something to it.

During one of the betas I had weird BT issues and extremely low volume when using it in the car. Could not even here SIRI when used. Removing the device from the car and device and re-paring it solved the issue. May want to try that. BT was worked on with 10.1 so a fresh "do-over" may be all thats needed to resolve these issues.

Hey guys, I am new on the forums. Just want to share some of the issues I noticed on iOS 10 since launch till the current version 10.1. If it helps, I am using iPhone 7, 256GB.

The issues I have so far are:

1) Auto White Balance in the camera app & other camera apps tend to fail sometimes when taking a photo under fluorescent light. It tends to go towards the extreme end on the warm side when shifting around the phone. A yellow tint appears as a result at that particular focus. It was appearing more often on the previous iOS 10 versions. It is still occurring on the iOS 10.1 but I find that the occurrence has been greatly reduced. Tested my friends' iPhone 7s produced the same problem and I even tried out the display sets in the Apple Stores and they are showing the same problem. Hopefully this is not a hardware issue and merely a software bug with the auto white balance algorithm.

2) 'Pop' or 'click' sounds can be heard on my iPhone 7 sometimes when pausing or when the video stops playing. This problem is reproducible in facebook or youtube or any app that plays videos. It only occurs sometimes so I am hoping I am not dealing with a hardware defect.

3) After iOS 10.1, when switching from the Music app with music playing to other apps with sounds enabled, the volume of the music immediately decreased in volume. The sound volume in the other apps however remain at the same volume.

4) In the Mail app in all iOS 10 versions, the 'save [number of] images' button by long pressing on any image in an email with more than 2 images no longer saves all the images. This button works as intended on iOS 9.3.5 on my iPad.

Will appreciate if anyone that has encountered similar problems I have stated above to comment here and join me in sending bug reports to Apple to highlight the issues to them. Thanks!

Anyone getting this since iOS10 (all versions so far):

Completely close Settings, then open it - right after it opens flick the screen up (removing finger from screen), then immediately swipe down to "take control" of the movement - it will ignore that input and the screen will continue rolling from the initial flick - you will then have to remove your finger to interact with the screen again. Happens almost every time - there seems to be a window where the Settings fully loads that causes this.

Seems to be related to if you open Settings and flick up - less than a second of scrolling will have a stutter, presumably where it is finishing loading or something.

Minor, but a tad annoying. Might have to make a video, as I am sure my instructions will result in "not happening to me" responses, although I have reproduced this on every device in an Apple store myself.

Other bug (since iOS9) is reproducible on any device: open any app, then open app switcher, before the animation completes slide an app up without letting go. Once the animation for the app switcher completes, it will cause the app you are holding to instantly snap back to the app switcher, and you will need to take your finger off the screen to interact with it again.

Again, minor, but annoying - there is a window where the animation completes that can cause regular swiping to fail (holding the app can just reproduce this 100% of the time)

Right, that's why it's surprising. I've removed and re-paired the phone after restarts of both the phone and the in-car software -- no dice. Any thoughts on what the issue is? Static and crackles much more frequently and which is also provoked by use of the phone.

What device? iP7 series I suppose? I have the 6s and no issues now but apparently the 7 series are having several strange issues including issues with BT, wifi, cellular, volume and probably more.

Any chance the update fixed the brightness or "warm" issue with the display? That's still my biggest complaint, it's not nearly as bright as the 6 or 6s Plus.

Ok and are you sure updates or installations is what provokes it? Had this happen on my iPad but not my iPhone, both of which I did the same app updates.

I was told that updates are the cause in a post above mine in this thread. Yesterday I updated apps twice after selectively allowing BAR for only two or three apps and the result was that all apps were allowed again. Today I acquired a new app and updated apps twice and the problem did not recur.

Yes definitely. I'm on a 7 Plus and get significant Bluetooth dropouts and choppiness after upgrading to 10.1. I have 3 friends that are all experiencing the same thing so there's definitely an issue. I've filed a bug report at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

Removing songs from active Apple Music playlists still does nothing. They are added back as soon as the current song is done!!

BTW why can't we select ios 10.1 on the drop down menu??

I noticed yesterday that the power button on my 7 plus ends phone calls. On all my previous iPhones, I've used the power button to turn off the screen during long calls when I have it on speaker. Now it just hangs up my call. Is it a software bug ? Can you check issue this please ?

You are saying it does this while you are using speakerphone (or headphones or Bluetooth)?
