No you need to actually embed it inside your music file or nothing will show up.
Apple Music would not help you searching lyrics like some other third party services anyway.

BTW, can't believe why Apple only shows "our app supports displaying lyrics" until now. I use iTunes to embed lyrics from quite a while ago.

Ok dumb question. How do I do that?

But you will lose your message histories no? I have lost mine during downgrade and have no idea how to restore.
Well yeah, you will probably lose the ones you had when you were using iOS10 after you restore your iOS9 iCloud/local backup.
Can't say for sure though, I mostly use FB messenger as it's free of charge for me (unlike sms messaging) so I likely wouldn't have noticed anyway. ;)

Mine is lost so I need to wait until Apple releases next beta for sierra.
Hope I can create an encrypted backup and start from there, for manual merging.
Anyway. Good luck for your choice.

From my understanding, I thought the Music app was going to put lyrics into Apple Music Songs by it self. This is disappointing because the Music app has had lyrics for years.

I also notice music doesn't show lyrics yet

It does. Scroll up on the now playing list. And to those that are spreading misinformation: you don't have to add lyrics yourself anymore, it is now a feature of Apple Music. I'm not sure if you have to be a subscriber in order to get that functionality, but it IS there and usable in this beta.

But for all non subscribers, they STILL need to add lyrics manually, and this is likely what Apple need to do anyway.

Probably from the first version of iOS.

Oh so its on apple music. Ok I see. I know you can add them manually I just thought they were under every song you purchased and not part of apple music. Im not a member of apple music so thats fine. Thanks for clearing it up
[doublepost=1466527900][/doublepost]I have thought about using Apple music in the past but heard it was really buggy. Has it gotten better?

Weirdly, Sonos can now be controlled in the Control Centre!! You can't change music, but volume, play, pause etc all work!
Can't seem to upload a picture but here's a link to it on dropbox https://www.dropbox.com/s/5y5szn7b5th3ugv/Sonos.png?dl=0
I don't have a Sonos but interested in this because I have Chromecast Audio. Similar concept- audio not being played on phone or even streamed from phone, but phone acts as a remote for speaker which is doing its own streaming and playback.

I'm interested cos I never thought we'd see this supported in CC because no audio is actually playing on the phone. I'm guessing it just got approval to stream silent audio or something, which lets it hook into CC, but its commands are forwarded to the speaker like the in-app controls

Anyway, question about the mechanics of it. Firstly, when you play something else (say with another music app or whatever), I'm assuming CC switches to that new app, but the Sonos device keeps playing the music it was playing? Secondly, when you return to the Sonos app, does it return to the CC? Thirdly, if the other app you were using supports background audio, has it now been paused by returning to the Sonos app?

Loving the giant addition of 3D Touch uses
So do I! :D

When iPhone 6s was launched, it felt kinda limited. Having Quick Actions, Peek & Pop, keyboard trackpad and opening the App Switcher was already something, but with iOS 10 Apple really seems to be embracing it. That's a good thing in my opinion. Hope they keep it up this way. We need as much 3D Touch implementation as possible. :)

When searching, does it now take you to the spot in an iMessage conversation where the search result is found?

Yes, and darkens the bubble containing the search string for a moment to draw attention to it... (Though actually, I believe iOS 9 does this too.)

I see under settings>music there is a section for "automatic downloads" and storage space. When you set a determine space amount it says music will be deleted if needed to maintain that space, songs you haven't listen to in a while. Is this only for Apple Music or any song you download from other music or iTunes?

I believe it will only work if you use iCloud Music Library (Apple Music or iTunes Match)

As space is needed it will just remove the download of your oldest, least listened to songs so that they will still be able to be listened to but not for offline. Thus giving you space for whatever else as needed and also not removing your ability to still listen to it.

Here is a shot of lyrics in action on my iPad.

They are not (yet) appearing for all songs.

It seems this is a software update on Sonos' side. It should work in iOS9 too

I know... I'm interested in how it works. Sonos isn't actually playing audio on the phone so wondering how it and other music apps fight over use of the control centre and whether other apps taking control of control centre stops Sonos streaming or not.
