Weather widget is slow to update. Or never does. You sometimes have to go into the weather app to get it to update in all places. I also have background app refresh on.

I've noticed this too. Just chalking it up to beta and will more than likely improve at some point. It would probably be safe to say widgets aren't finished yet in their redesign.

I saw some people say this already but anyone else notice that it's running a lot smoother and less buggy today?

There is a "Color Filter" setting under accessibility that allows you to tint your screen. It isn't really meant for this purpose, but I suppose it could be used to correct overly yellow or blue screens that people complain about so much.

this is for the colour blind

Can anyone confirm that Apple Pay works on the beta.
Cheers

Yes it still works fine

I've tested it and yes you can technically use it to "correct" and overly yellow screen. My tests were turning on Night Shift and then using it to counter that back to "normal"

There is a new notification that warns you if an app is "unoptimized for iOS 10" when you open an app that isn't 64-bit.

Yeah sounds like Apple will be dropping 32-bit support in the OS very soon, which isnt a bad thing at all
[doublepost=1466368685][/doublepost]
Hi
Has anyone tried Apple Pay ?

I want to try the beta but use Apple Pay lots

Yes it works fine, I have used it a lot since Monday
[doublepost=1466368878][/doublepost]
Has the pop up with the volume level changed?

Nope
[doublepost=1466369386][/doublepost]
Anyone else seeing issues with AirPlay recognizing WiFi-connected targets? My phone only sees my AppleTV, and does not see the Yamaha receiver or standalone AirPlay-enabled speaker (both worked fine on iOS 9).

Control Center does list the AppleTV under a section called "AirPlay Screen -- Mirror your iPhone display"... it's just there is no section for "AirPlay Audio" or similar.

the airplay section when you first open control center is for video mirroring only...swipe right to the new music controls and there is a airplay speaker option, shows my Pioneer and Onkyo Receivers.
[doublepost=1466371472][/doublepost]
don't know if it's a bug, but i can't close the text suggestions above the keyboard

you can close it by holding on the globe icon (switch languages/emoji etc..) the slider for Predictive Text comes up for you turn it off
[doublepost=1466371719][/doublepost]
YES! Is that a 4 inch phone? Oh man that is so welcome I hope it stays large.

yeah I like the huge controls for lock screen, previously if your volume was directly under the pause button using the screen was next to impossible to adjust, it would just pause and un pause.

no longer the case with the nice large buttons...also if running, or using media controls for audio while driving this makes them easier to hit for sure

I'm seeing a LOT of force touch used all over the UI now mentioned in this thread. How does this functionality work on phones without force touch? Like the different flashlight intensities for example? Apple's NEWEST iPhone (the SE) doesn't even have force touch so I imagine this functionality is available some other way?

the flash light works the same on non force touch phones, just on and off there is no intensity changes available to us....Apple has to allow just enough features to force us to upgrade and no too many that would piss us buyers off ;)

I just noticed that in Messages it seems like now, in order to send a message you have to hit the blue arrow in the text field. The blue "Send" button has been replaced by return and that goes to a new line like you'd expect. Just curious, is this the same for everyone else? Hadn't seen it discussed in this thread. Not sure how much I like it. The send button was so easy to hit. On the other hand, the arrow button isn't really hard to hit, it'll just take some getting used to. Also, might help prevent accidentally sending messages mid-sentence. Definitely done that a lot in the past.

EDIT: I was somehow remembering this wrong. The send button was always in the text field, it's just the smaller sized arrow button now. Sorry for any confusion.
Can you post a screen shot?

All this work is done locally on your phone, so it may take a while on a huge library.

Plug your phone in (I doubt it'll do this work in the background on battery) and give it some time.
[doublepost=1465863535][/doublepost]Question for ya'll: Is this beta working on your "real" iCloud drive, or is it working on a "beta temporary copy" of it like past betas have done?

Just wondering if we have to worry about our iCloud data being corrupted when running this beta. Particularly photos. :)

seems to be using the real iCloud. example...I toggled the organize music setting to 32GB (which was a lot more space than i freely had. found the 25,505 photos i had were down to 287..I turned the organize music setting back to none. opened settings->iCloud->photos and saw it was downloading them once again with a number remaining...took about an hour over wifi to download them all. got all 25,505 back.

Worst glitch I have is taking photo and it's not in camera roll. Just gone. Only trace of it is the small thumbnail on camera app.
Same thing happened to me this evening, went at a concert and when I checked the pics at home there were a few missing ones (like 6 out of 25 or so), Photos app on the mac did not show them either, so I thought of having a look with iExplorer and they were there in the DCIM folder together with the other ones! For some reason they are not displayed in the camera roll (or in Photos), but the files are there, so you might have a chance of recovering them.

iOS now automatically marks your location on the map where you've parked your car, and shows you a lock screen notification!

Here's what it looks like:

were you using maps while driving to get it to do this? if not can you check your notifications for maps.....my maps is not doing that. and i just went our for lunch and drove back to work. no notification
[doublepost=1466375379][/doublepost]
still dont have it in canada..

News works in Canada just fine...go to setting->general->language and region. under Region Formats change Canada to United States.
[doublepost=1466375537][/doublepost]
Can we still slide on the icons on the lockscreen to go to the app itself rather than interact with it?

you sure can.

I wasn't using Maps, it's automatic when you park the car and shut it off, thus disconnecting the bluetooth connection with the iPhone.

I don't see this in the Wiki yet so I'm throwing this in there. Not sure if it is new to iOS 10 but I know I can't do this on 9.0.2. Now you can disable Touch ID to unlock your device but still have Touch ID work for Apple Pay and the iTunes/App store.

I have noticed you can since at least iOS 9.2 it is not new to iOS 10
[doublepost=1466375908][/doublepost]
Thank you! That's been bugging me all day as to why my lock sounds didn't work.

The Keyboard Lock Sounds and Typing sounds are kinda linked the status of the last one toggled impacts both.
[doublepost=1466376199][/doublepost]
Gotten quite a few on my 6S Plus. A good 3-4 I'd say.

me too. but its beta...also find my screen wakes up own its own sometimes. no notifications or alerts just wakes up
[doublepost=1466376240][/doublepost]
When I am sending invisible messages or handwritten text in iMessage it keeps saying not delivered then sends them as a regular text. 6s plus.

Edit: Couple restarts fixed it

yeah but if you send it to yourself as long as its received on messages for iOS 10 it works fine
[doublepost=1466376335][/doublepost]

hmmm interesting...i use Carplay hard wired...I must try the Bluetooth option, although it should work on CarPlay too since then it knows you're in the car

Game Center has been removed. Never used that thing anyway.

Something I always wished for even in the app was a small 'last updated' time/date. If not that, then leave the hours columns that are on on display starting at the hour it last updated. Usually the hours are updated to current time but you have to wait a lot longer for the actual temperature and conditions to update to latest values. In a quick glance, too many times I've got the wrong impression, but those two suggestions would minimise that.

But yeah, if they actually got it updating quicker then not such an issue...

Not exactly the same as it actually being enabled for Canadian region. No matter where in the world you are you can set it to US region and get access. But you toss all measurements and currencies out the window and the phone uses American types/values.

The fact that Apple keeps promoting this "awesome new app" and even after only 1 year is already getting a redesign and keep promoting how great it is even more, yet they still don't open it up to other countries (without tricking your device into thinking it's a US phone) is pretty weak.

Thanks! That is what I was missing.

you can also invoke while holding your phone normally...press the arrow on the left to open the Camera, Heart with fingers and App store logo.

tap the App Store logo, slide over to recents and they are all there (misplaced seemingly since they are in recents without actually having used any)

I'm having an issue with interactive notifications for Messages. When you pull down on the banner to reply, if you type 2+ lines the box doesn't expand and the text is cut off. Anyone else having this problem?

Yeah I see that happening too...apple taking "Quick" reply a little too seriously lol
[doublepost=1466378651][/doublepost]
When toggling the mute switch, instead of the usual single short buzz, it is now 2 tiny buzzes
not happening on my iPhone 6+
[doublepost=1466378911][/doublepost]
Which device you have ? Will this feature on iPhone 6 ?

this only works with phones with the M9 which is currently the 6S/6S Plus and SE
[doublepost=1466379085][/doublepost]
Can someone please post screenshots of the new UI changes with reduce transparency on? Thanks!

I sincerely hope that this gets fixed, either by later builds or the app gets an update. I use this to monitor charging and battery temperature. Not so much the battery capacity, but just the battery itself. If the stupid iOS percentage was more accurate, it wouldn't be a problem. But iOS says the phone is at 100% even though its truly only at 95%.

its the app itself that will nee dot be updated, dont expect that until iOS 10 is released publicly in the Fall

Unfortunately I don't think this will be the case. One of the developers of these apps has said Apple has gone out of their way to intentionally hide this data and even updating the app won't pull the hidden information. Sounds like it will be lost for good. The Mac apps, such as Coconut and ibackupbot work. Just not iOS.

Seems relatively stable for a first beta. Overall I'm liking the majority of the changes. My one issue is the music app. Every aspect of the interface is just awful looking and poorly organized in my opinion. The huge bold text is not a good look and as someone without Apple Music, I have no use for 4 of the 5 tabs on bottom. Plus, it is still the only app on the 6 Plus/6s Plus that doesn't support landscape.

I remember way back when we used to be able to customize those tabs! definitely need that option back for people without Apple Music.
[doublepost=1466379511][/doublepost]
I have an couple issues with iMessage that I haven't seen posted here.

  • None of the new stylized iMessages or drawings work for me. Instead of sending it just instantly says "Not Delivered" and refuses to send.
  • iMessage Quick Reply on the lock screen seems broken:
    • When I hit "reply" on the lock screen, the phone buzzes like a new notification came in even though it is just activating quick reply
    • The screen will go dim as if a new notification came in rather than a quick reply, thus the screen will turn off in the middle of my typing
Has anyone else experienced this?

for your first point many of the new features can only be sent to ios devices running iOS 10....try messaging yourself. I have and it works flawlessly
[doublepost=1466380021][/doublepost]
Damn so a no go for the daily driver then? Hold off till beta 2?

I have it on my daily driver and im ok with that. only thing seriously broken for me right now is Navigation in maps. but i only need it once and while so thats ok.

you can always go back to iOS 9 if you want. simply make sure you have the IPSW file for your current iOS version before you update
[doublepost=1466380313][/doublepost]
And if there are any new languages for Siri?

lots of languages for Siri sorry couldn't tell you which ones, if any are new

I agree its a trick to get it working but I use it for tech and science news so doesn't really apply to me i guess. apparently its functioning in Mexico too...so like iTunes Radio (never launched to Canada) and apple pay (two years to get bank support) its may or may not ever properly launch in Canada

Just leave it as it was before, and don't require us to press the Home button. If we want see view our notifications, use the Raise to Wake feature.
Make sense to me, Touch ID unlocks your iPhone, the Home button takes you to the home screen.

Annoying that the Today screen has gone. I used to rely on that if I was in an app and wanted to know the date. Be nice if on the pull down for notification centre or the shortened search bar they could add another status line with more indicators and the date

I have been using the Vidgets app. I used it for a network monitor, but you can set the widget up to display the date as well.
