iOS 9 the calendars and reminders section would be hidden... Because there's nothing there.... Eyeless 10 just gives me wasted space... This is hopefully just a bug.

Reminders in iOS 9 are hidden not dayview calendar. (at least I dont think so)

I would really like to see Swipe support on the stock iOS keyboard. It's really sad that we're 10 versions into iOS and this isn't a core feature yet and requires 3rd party to do it.
This really made me sad. I was really hoping for swype.

For all those people saying iOS 10 is focused on developers: don't you remember when iOS 8 was announced and it was "focused on developers"? It seems like Apple is slowing their designs and features in favor of hoping developers will do most of the work.

You genuinely think that iOS 10 is going to improve your experience more than any other upgrades before this? What features are you going to use personally?

Improved Siri/type suggestions/etc
The new AI-laden Photos (!!)
Improved Messages
The improvement to Maps is something I really could've used last week, and am glad to see those changes coming in!
Raise to Wake (I can finally see my notifications!)
Voice Mail transcription. yay!
Live Photos editing. Again, something else I really could've used last week ... this comes up for me on a regular basis (I don't want to completely flatten a live photo, but I'd like to brighten up, for example).

These are all things announced in iOS 10 that I will love having day to day.

(edit: Oh! And the Universal Clipboard... while not strictly in iOS, it's part of iOS 10 and I can't wait to have that!)

I agree the photos app is a huge improvement...still no enhanced editing features... I think that will come with the 2016 iPhones.

I also like voicemail transcriptions but am disappointed that we didn't get the Siri voicemail.

I think that the phone, FaceTime, contact apps need to be merged in to one app across all devices, and allow for voicemail syncing via iCloud... We don't need a FaceTime and contacts app.

I haven't installed on my iPad but I'm guessing there are 0 improvements to split screen.

It's more like that no matter how many engineers and money Apple has, there will always be 3rd party developers who are coming up with new and unique ideas.

I hope they move the volume back in control centre. Night shift doesn't need to take up all that space. Seperating it all is a step backwards.

No night mode :-(

Exactly. If Apple is at a point right now where they're running low on new ideas, there is no better way to move the platform forward than to give developers more tools and features to do great things.

Yes, it is going to improve my experience.

Better lock screen
Photos
Messages
Better Siri w/ 3rd party integration (I never use Siri)
Deleting stock apps

I could go on and on but just those 5 are reason enough for me to upgrade.

I literally cannot understand all of these complaints every single time Apple comes up with a new iOS version. I just can't.

Of course there's definitely features missing in iOS 10 I was hoping for, but that doesn't necessarily make it a disappointment. In fact, this feels like some kind of iOS 8 release. Again, with focus on functionality for both end users and developers. iOS 9 was a little boring in my opionion. It was good, but just not really 'Apple-like'. iOS 10 really seems to be the change I was hoping for.

It does feel a little clunky at this point, but let's not forget we're talking first beta here. Knowing Apple's update strategy they will without a doubt do a lot of tweaks in the upcoming months. Really excited about this one. And gotta say it runs pretty darn stable for such a huge release. I remember the iOS 8 and iOS 9 days, it was bad. Especially the first beta of iOS 9, when everyones battery literally drained within a blink of the eye. But iOS 10 is an improvement in terms of performance and battery life. Apple is beginning to show they actually learn from mistakes.

Anyway, looking forward to the upcoming beta releases as iOS 10 will become more and more stable and all. Until then I'll be testing this incredible release. :)

How can anyone who hasn't used iOS call it a disappointment? I thought the announcements were great and I wish I could use it now. Only disappointment is no dark mode.
Exactly. That's MacRumors for you though. According to the forums, Apple would be dead within the year after iOS 7 came out.

where hip is spoken
First of all - I'm sure there are things we haven't seen yet - trying to do all the details in a presentation is very time consuming etc.
When they spent 25% of the presentation on Messages and emoji, it is fair to say that there aren't any hidden gems that they didn't have time to present.

With what they are opening up to developers etc. we will see exciting things - it is now up to all the app developers . IOS wasn't much in the beginning until the APP store and then all got great.
What did Apple open up that will lay the groundwork for exciting things? Messages? Siri? Maps?

It is hard to get exciting when what we have is great already. But lets at least let people actually use it and tell us before we comment one way or another.
Sorry, but one can observe the keynote (after all Apple wanted people to see it) and form opinions on what they saw and what they didn't see. The more information that is revealed then opinions will change or be confirmed. But you claiming that "we will see exciting things" has no more substance than those who saw the keynote and... yawned.

why do mods allow these threads to exist?

or why do users participate in these types of threads, feeding op and putting this at the top of the forum list over and over?
I see you are doing your part to ensure that this thread stays on top.:p

iOS hasn't had a major upgrade since iOS 5 really. iOS 6 improved 5, 7 screwed everything up, 8 made it 10x worse, 9 made it 20x worse, and 10 has made things great again (for me at least).

I like the new designs, but now the icons look stupid to me and don't fit in, in my eyes.

I wish there were more major design overhauls though.

iOS 7 and 8 were certainly fairly major upgrades in their own respects.

From a design perspective the new design update is horrible.
Did you saw the new childish Health app UI??

It's so predicable. Every time there is a change people reflexively hate it. And we get post after post about how this and that is so ugly and Apple needs to fire it's designers blah blah blah, mostly from people who haven't installed the software or did but only played with it for like 5 minutes and decided it was crap.

What's childish about it? Do you have a screen shot?

Similar things were said by various people when iOS 7 came out...and yet here we are years later.
