this is very different from iOS 7.
Certainly different than the current app but I'm not sure what's childish about it.

I didn't say it was the same as far as the design, I mentioned that the reactions were similar when it came to the new design when iOS 7 came out (down to just various people being almost hysterical over some small icon tidbits).

How can anyone who hasn't used iOS call it a disappointment? I thought the announcements were great and I wish I could use it now. Only disappointment is no dark mode.
Exactly exactly exactly what i feel...everything looks greater and more extensive ....although I really wanted a dark mode and Wifi-Bluetooth 3D touch menues from the control center i think ios 10 is very exciting and great ios release .

There is also no longer a date and time in today view
That just sucks .

I want ios 10 for the new messages stuff alone. Me and my friends are gonna go crazy.

Everything else is a giant plus. The new phone unlock features are amazing. I hate pressing the home button to check my notifications but then touch ID works too fast and blazes past them. Notification center, lock screen, Maps/Music/News looks so much better. Homekit still feels like rich people stuff niche stuff. Otherwise this has been the most exciting iOS presentations since iOS 7.

If you don't use any of that stuff, though, you're ****ed haha.

I haven't installed on my iPad but I'm guessing there are 0 improvements to split screen.

As one of the many items they didn't have time to cover, he did quickly mention iOS 10 allows safari to do split screen Windows so you can have side by side pages open.

I agree with the topic starter. iOS10 lacks a lot of changes the users want which are e.g.

iOS lacks:
- Customisable Control Center
- Dark mode
- Swipe/gesture keyboard build into stock Apple keyboard
- Option to use third party apps as main apps e.g. Spark/Airmail instead of Mail app (you can now remove the Mail app).
- Allow more user profiles on iPad also for consumers
- Ability to run multiple instances of an app via Slide Over/Split View aside from Safari
- Change the way you can search and add/remove apps from Slide Over/Split View view
- Better support for URL schemes / demand apps to add this to their app and or certain features so I can easily start up certain features or apps via Launcher app + workflows see also the Workflow app
- Ability to choose an order for wifi/3G/4G list of favorite networks so you connect to your own wifi (much quicker) instead of the wifi of your neighbor (free wifi from provider but much slower)
- Improve Mail app by adding e.g. snooze feature, better way of handling atttachments on the iPhone (like Spark, Airmail, Outlook)
- Better UI for iPads, make use of the space
- No iMessage support on Android

The only things I liked are:
- Siri can now be used for third party developers, so we can maybe see support for third party keyboards with Siri build in (not supported for 3rd party keyboards, so it seems). I still think that adding swipe/gesture keyboard in Apple's own keyboard would be best so I won't have to use third party apps

- You can delete certain Apple stock apps and download these from the App Store, unfortunately removing the Apple Mail app doesn't make mailto links accessible with third party mail clients like Airmail, Spark.

- Install Calculator and other stock apps on iPad (probably). I'm also wondering if you can now install Calculator, Weather and other iPhone only apps on your iPad now these will become available from the App Store.

- Run 2 instances of Safari in Slide Over/Split View (unfortunately not other (stock) apps).

In the sense of lacking features that users want every iOS (and really any OS) would fit with that, and even to a larger degree in the earlier days when even less features were present. It would seem then all versions were disappointments by that measuring stick, and each older version that much more than its younger counterpart.

Seems to me that Apple has finally made their apps do what they should have done originally, but haven't added anything really new (I'm discounting everything they've "borrowed" for iMessage and Maps).

Basically, what most people want is for their iPhone's to be more like Android devices, in terms of making them more individual. I don't think Apple will ever do this to be honest.

One more thing; that new notification centre/day view is one of the worst things I've ever seen on the iPhone. Totally bloated view with terrible rounded corners

Almost all my gripes with iOS are written here.
Cheers for this cool list. :)

For me, it was pretty underwhelming, but the ability to delete stock apps was huge IMO. It's similar to Windows Phone, and is the proper way of doing it IMO.

Overall, except for a few welcomed features, I think they were changing things just for the sake of changing things (notification UI, for example).

I'll downgrade to iOS 9.3.2 if beta 2 doesn't end up fixing anything.

I really just want an option to disable most UI animations.

Or just give me an iOS 9 jailbreak :).

why do mods allow these threads to exist?

or why do users participate in these types of threads, feeding op and putting this at the top of the forum list over and over?
Why wouldn't the mods allow it? It doesn't break any rules.

I'm not feeding OP, or whatever that means. I agree with him. iOS 10 was a very disappointing upgrade for me. I was thinking this would finally be the year Apple adds some of the features we've been begging for, but I've given up hope on them.

So I finally did find one thing I'm really going to like about iOS 10. It's not a feature, just an API. It's the one that will allow VoIP apps to work with the Phone app, so incoming VoIP calls ring just like normal phone calls do and don't come through as a standard notification that you need to swipe to open and put in your pin or scan your fingerprint to unlock the phone.

Since I use Hangouts for 99% of my calls with my Google Voice number, this is going to be awesome. I can't wait until Google implements this API in their app.

"2. Control center took a step backwards and became more complicated by putting stuff on different pages. Still no 3-D touch on the toggles."

There are 3D Touch on the toggles. For example you can use 3D Touch to adjust flashlight intensity

I don't understand what people actually want, this iOS is a great (not quite amazing but great) and it has added or changed several things for the better. I have been running it since day one and I love the changes. I think people are expecting to much, like holographic projection or so crazy stuff like that and if they don't get something futuristic they aren't happy. iOS 10 seems like a great step forward not just for visual usefulness but all that it opened up for us dev's (yes it wasn't fully opened but opened enough for dev's to start doing things that weren't allowed before).

You genuinely think that iOS 10 is going to improve your experience more than any other upgrades before this? What features are you going to use personally?
If you haven't tried it yet...raise to wake completely changes the way you use the device. Also swiping over for widgets on the lockscreen means that I will actually use them (Because before it would take longer to open NC and swipe over vs just tapping an icon). Improved notifications are also a game changer, and these aren't even fully realized yet as no 3rd parties have them implemented yet. SiriKit could make siri much more useful, but I'm still skeptical that siri can actually be conversational as it has typically failed in all my tests.

And that doesn't even go into iMessage changes, even the inline link previews are a huge upgrade. Also if you use VoIP apps they now can use native call interfaces, so using a third party voip provider as your main number is actually a possibility now.

What I'm seeing so far in iOS 10 is another incremental 1.0 update, and far from the revolutionary update that I think many of us where hoping for in iOS 10. Instead of something big, it's once again just providing a small handful of things we've been wanting for a long time. Whereas we've been hoping iOS 10 would be something huge, to Apple it's just another 1.0 update.

iOS 9 the calendars and reminders section would be hidden... Because there's nothing there.... Eyeless 10 just gives me wasted space... This is hopefully just a bug.

Pretty sure this is a bug, as a lot of my "taller" widget apps get cut off, it seems the frame height adjustment isn't working properly yet. This is what radars are for..
