  • Lack of slide of unlock (at least there should be an option to get slide to unlock back)

I think I will stay at iOS 9.

What I'm seeing so far in iOS 10 is another incremental 1.0 update, and far from the revolutionary update that I think many of us where hoping for in iOS 10. Instead of something big, it's once again just providing a small handful of things we've been wanting for a long time. Whereas we've been hoping iOS 10 would be something huge, to Apple it's just another 1.0 update.
Seems like the issue there is with expectations and how realistic they are. It is in fact a 1.0 update as you mentioned, and seems that was the reasonable thing to expect. Sure hoping for more is reasonable too, but then the response to it all should be appropriate based on that, as hoping and expecting are different things (and it seems most of the "disappointment" seems to be coming from expectations rather than hopes).

Are you being contrary, or you genuinely believe that iOS 10 was always going to be nothing more than 1.0 update? No doubt OSX set some expectations for us that iOS 10 would be something significant. You clearly disagree, but for most/many of us it was a very realistic expectation that iOS 10 would be more.

I had some hopes that it might be something more, but my expectations is that it was going to be pretty much what it was, a 1.0 update. I'm not going to say that I'm necessarily happy, but I'm not disappointed or anything like that.

"I've given up on a file system because I just don't ever see that happening, but what is the problem with letting us change native apps for third party ones? :/"

The same reason neither of these will happen:

1. The file system is sandboxed to prevent/reduce hacking threat.
2. Third party apps are available, you have to buy/download them through the App Store.
3. The app approval process maintains a basic style and functionality standard between apps.
4. See #1
5. "Native apps" might mean things like texting, email and other such "third party" apps. Yep those things are available in the App Store, but one can't delete some of the native apps and maybe that's the complaint.

Ios 10 feels like what ios 9 should'v been... Right ?

What do people actually mean when they say "iOS X feels like what iOS Y should've been?"

Makes no sense at all.

New Control Center is BETTER because pre iOS 10, everything was on one pane, obviously. Some people when listening to music would want to adjust the volume for example but instead they'd hit the scrubber as there was no space between the two. Now, there's more of a gap between the volume slider and scrubber.

ANY change on the App Store is server-side (when the App Store updates for example) which means you'll see the ads anyway (if you live in the U.S that is because that's the only place that's getting them at the moment).

Really, bold fonts? That's a point of yours? Why are so many people getting into a hissy fit over bold fonts? Jeez.

Siri and Maps were opened up to developers, iMessage was overhauled with lots of new features, interactive notifications, lockscreen widgets, interactive 3D Touch widgets, HomeKit, inline video playback on iPhone, Memories, and Apple Pay on the web. Not sure what more you expected.

Also, maps tells you where you parked :D

What does mean Ads in the AppleStore? Like the Ads in YouTube videos and then you can download the apps?

Basically the new unlock way, the new notifications and the way I can change of song in this new menu in control center. I didn't like it tbh.

The ads are in search results, they are no inconvenience to users and could help developers.

Can someone post a screen shot of Maps showing where you parked? I haven't seen that on my iPhone 6. I swiped left to Notifications, and did not see anything.

As a director I couldn't be happier. Now we can spend our advert budgets directly on the AppStore than Facebook.

Widgets are done so poorly and look ugly.

How is it pleasant experience to have to scroll down if you have more than 3-4 widgets?! Widgets should be placeable on the home screens so we can easily just see them, or swipe over to a second home screen with more.

The widget view should be merged with the iOS home screen icons is what I am saying.

Rather than copying existing UX, they're trying out something new, what's wrong with that? It's a software at the end of the day, so if people complain then they can change it in next update.

I had never hat problem and know I need an extra swipe to control my music and volume. Apple should just add an option called "compact control center" and everybody would be happy.

No it's iOS 10 only. And it will come surely for other countries soon.

It looks ugly and inelegant. Surely, it's a matter of taste - but for me it looks like a trainee did the design. But the bold font is the smallest trouble of iOS 10.

Currently on ios 9, I have to scroll down to see more than the top 3 or 4 widgets, so this doesn't represent a change from the staus quo. Also if they were on to home screen you would still swipe to the next screen to see more than four. Personally I wouldn't want my first two pages dedicated to widgets.

Agreed. "I have to swipe to see more widgets" is the dumbest rant ever
[doublepost=1466347633][/doublepost]Control Center changes are neat. They reduce the on-screen size of the panel, which helps 4 inch devices. People seems to be forgetting that Home Functions are to be embedded there too as shown on the keynote, pretty unlikely that they're gonna be crammed into a single page.

Now, widgets were created to be be at hand all the time, the NC was never the right place for them, it was a little inconvenient.
Now, crying for an extra swipe for music is one of the dumbest things i've ever heard. With all due respect, if you care about 1 swipe that much you might as well stop using touchscreens forever. Seriously, when you get used to it you wouldn't even notice the difference

Do you guys think that all the resources have been shifted to the car? Because iOS10 was such a disappointment, it should technically be named iOS 9.5.

I don't believe they have a lack of ideas to improve iOS, that can't be it. It's literally the least impactful update since iOS 1, I don't think anyone will disagree with that.

What is happening to Apple?
A small piece of advise:
As you've noticed, it's not so wise to post your personal opinion as a definitive fact for a thread title. Just for future reference.
Your opinion should and will always be respected IF you present it in an appropiate way

so basically pointing out usability regressions is over-reacting, but calling other people's opinions "dumbest thing ever" is a measured and appropriate response. cools. ;D

I'm going to get a lot of skepticism and/or hate for this comment, but I honestly expected Apple to make iOS a huge update at least from a competitive stand point.
I've been primarily iOS since 2007, but I've also used and hated Android until lollipop.
Also, I definitely don't want iOS to BE Android, but as far as a 'smart' device goes, iOS doesn't hold a candle to the progress Google's making with their Operating System.

Samsung disgusts me mind you, but knowing that every phone ships with Multiwindow, a very capable Multi clipboard, and so much for productivity combined with the greats of N, makes it that much more a compelling product.

iOS should never be Android. That being said, here's a couple no-brainers for Android users:
1. Grouped Notification threads.
2. (With N) Global PiP which handles any video from any source+ Supports phones.
3. Setting ringtones from Music, without having to create them.
4. Google Now is legions smarter at understanding you. Especially with the Update coming.

Apple has been putting more efforts trying to convince people they're still doing great things rather than actually doing anything to keep them ahead.

And Siri might have extended functionality, but it remains as dumb as ever.
For example, you can't even get siri to tell you Who founded Facebook.

Just the deep learning classificator in the new Photos makes this a much more useful update than what we had previously. I'v been using iOS 10 on my phone since it became available and its so much better than any iOS before.
