Today when i ended navigation from the lock screen i almost screamed out in joy. Later i discovered some new music from a great playlist i would have never found in the old terrible music app. I later checked the news from the lockscreen, checked my calendar from the lock screen, and replyed to some texts without unlocking. If you think none of that is useful then Im not sure what else they can do for you.

There's more to life than doing regular stuff from the lock screen :)

What? Screamed out in joy? I really don't see why this is such a big deal or all that useful at all. Using the lockscreen to perform actions as you speak of - I pickup my phone and I have to swipe right. Then scroll to the widget I want. Only a few show up due to lack of screen real estate. And those widgets have limited functionality. To do it the old way I pick up my phone with my finger on the home button and the phone unlocks and opens to the springboard. And from there I have access to all of my most used apps with their full functionality. Apple has made unlocking my phone almost completely effortless. In fact it takes less effort to unlock and open to my home screen than getting to the widgets.

Don't get me wrong I love the new OS. And the widgets are kinda cool. But you describe them like they are groundbreaking and life changing. They are kind of the opposite to me.

I do find iOS 10 very nice, but it's not as useful as Android N is for my heavy daily usage. Running each side by side on the latest iPhone 6S Plus and Nexus 6P has provided an interesting comparison. An experience only available to those who own both, it's the comparison over time, that makes me appreciate the exceptional work of the Android engineers.
I certainly appreciate the UI for Android N (and Marshmallow) much better than iOS, but it's infuriating running into "Not compatible with this device" or having to wait for android versions of some apps because the eco system is so fragmented. That's why I stick with iOS even though the UI is aged, the animations feel like I'm being warped to another dimension and it's as buggy as it ever has been (there are some iOS9 bugs that still haven't been fixed). The app ecosystem is top choice.

I've enjoyed iOS 10 as well. Lots of bugs, sure, but I like the new features.

Yesterday I received a happy birthday text from a daughter. It came with balloons and I had to ask my wife if she thought the daughter would be on the beta. She laughed. I asked the daughter and she said "Huh?" Turns out iOS 10 just gave me the balloons, likely because of the message. (Daughter is on iOS 9.x)

Yes, this is completed on device. Showed it in WWDC.

It is quite fantastic for sure.

If you have access, watch some of the developer sessions from WWDC. They can give you really good insight about a lot of the new features and exactly what they are supposed to do, and not do.

Wasn't taking about widgets was talking about ending navigation. Ending navigation in apple maps has been an annoyance of mine for years now. Had to unlock the phone, open maps, and tap the screen until the end text showed up. Very frustrating to do while driving.

iOS 10 is going to be grate for iPhones and Apple TV. But iOS 10 for iPads it this feels like it's not really made for iPads this year like in past iOS may be its just me but it just feels like a lot of future are missing for iPad

Eh ios 9 was more of the same. I haven't been impressed with it. 8 wasnt anything special either.

If Apple just gives us a toggle to speed up animations, that would be the ultimate.
****ing YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS !!! animations are so slowwwwwwwwww

Glad you're enjoying it, but most of what you cite has no interest to me.

It feels like rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic. I want to see a complete overhaul of iOS. I want notifications to sync across all my devices. I'm so tired of constantly having to dismiss notifications on my iPhone, iPad and Mac. Why can't Apple get this sorted? And I wish we could have a proper file system on iOS like the Mac. And I wish we could have a default app for opening different kinds of files like on the Mac.

I hate the direction, or rather, the non-direction, Apple is taking iOS. It seems they want us to pretend files don't exist and move to streaming. I never will. I own lots of files and folders and like to have full control over them. Until Apple decides to turn iOS into as functional an operating system as on the Mac, I will bewail the inadequacy of iOS until kingdom come. Wish I didn't have to.
you are just making ios android...

i agree iOS should be seperated from ipads.....iOS limits the ipads potential and they are not really "Pro" like Apple calls them....iPadOS asap

Amd what you have to gain with that besides more work for developers and less apps compatible with iPads split screen?

I really don't get these iOS 10 is ruining iPads posts. It doesn't take anything away it's had in previous iOS. You gain all the iOS 10 features. It's literally no different than using iOS 9, except you have iOS 10 features with it. How is that ruining iPads again? OMG more features and some design changes that are universal to iOS 10 design changes! Ruined!!!!
