iOS 11.1.1 Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

Ran into this issue today for the first time. The dock on the iPad got confused and showed the landscape version in portrait and vice versa. Couldn’t tap on it. I had to reboot to regain functionality.

Hey Siri has stopped working for me today, so the update didn’t fix the issue.

Use Sky Guide or Sudoku ME.
Make sure phone isn’t on silent.
Volume 60%+

In Sky Guide just start selecting stars and planets. It may take 20 or so but the clipping sound will kick in. The trigger seems to be secondary sound while a background sound is playing.

In Sudoku ME in Settings make sure Melody is up pretty high. Start a game and start pressing tiles. The clipping will accompany the normal selection sound.

I am seriously considering returning 8+ for this. It sounds like trash. I don’t know if I’m going 7+ or X.

Software in conjunction with 8+. Seems not an issue with any other phones.

Little weird that Apple has removed apps that do it from display models. For example, Monument Valley & Sky Guide. They know..

Monument Valley does this too? I’d like to test this on my 7.

It’s not as noticeable but I heard it on the opening melody. FWIW, Apple Lead Tech could not hear it on MV but did on other apps. On MV, it’s more of a speaker ‘dragging’ versus the static’y clipping.

Problem is I am using iP6s and have it so changing devices most likely won’t resolve the issue. Maybe beta 3 will drop today and will address it.

Wow, you’re right. It’s very noticeable in the menu melody with the volume turned up. I would describe what I heard as a buzzing or crackling as if the speaker volume is turned up too high and can’t handle it. Only seems to be my earpiece speaker acting up.

200 cycles in two years. Wow you must be barely using your phone. Or it must be your secondary phone as I get one cycle a day on average and sometimes more when clicking pictures.

I’m definitely not a power user. I prefer using my iPad for media and surfing the web. Plus i’m on my iMac a lot so I really only use the phone when I’m out and about.
 
I have a strange bug, since updating from 11.1 to 11.1.1
I can not add any exchange account.. not via settings -- account, not via the microsoft outlook app.. if I use airmail, I can confirgure the exchange connecion.
The exchange server is 2013, not 2016.

I there anyone having a similar problem?

Don’t mean to threadjack, but quick question: How often do you guys soft-reset your iOS devices? Only after a problem or on an occasional basis? Thanks.

After an issue or about once every couple of weeks if no issues. Not very often in general.
 
Regarding resetting iPhone 8 Plus (iOS 11.1.1), the one time I manually reset the device was during the first week after upgrading from iPhone 6s Plus (because I thought swiping pix wasn't smooth) resulted in the Camera Roll "Split-September 2014" problem. Discussions are here. Thru resets of every new iPhone model since 2009 the problem with Camera Roll had never happened to me before. It was a PITA to resolve. YMMV, of course, but be aware, just in case.
 
Apple Engineering closed out my weather widget bug report as a duplicate so maybe we have movement on this issue now.

I had to delete all Bluetooth connections & reset network connections today due to weird Bluetooth audio quality issue but since mid-day the weather widget has been working. Not sure if related to reset of network connections.
 
Weather widget is still sticking whenever it feels like it. Currently reading 52°, accurate at 7 PM EST but not at midnite when temp is 44° and dropping hourly.
 
Anyone else getting superb battery life?
iPhone 8 Plus. Consistently left with around 40% battery left at 10PM. Taken off the charger at 6AM this morning. 7 hours usage.

the opposite actually, i have getting amazing battery life on my ip8 plus but since the complete opposite, im down to 60% with barely any use when home from work, before i was between 85-90%
 
Anyone else having issues with Touch ID? Was working fine before but I think it’s a bit buggy now

Also would be good if the notifications would work normally again sometime soon
