A simple Google search reveals plenty of people have this problem and those who did have dealt with it by either getting the iPhone X or simply grin and bear it. The Youtube video in question is 100% accurate as regards showing the effects as if you see his other videos where he compares 2 iOS 11 versions, this effect is never observed.

Apple has given up on the home button iPhones at this point as even the budget model will use gestures this year and considering the fact that the new iPad Pro will also use gestures, its a given the 2017 iPad Pro is next on the chopping block. They will probably cripple another aspect of it to get those users to upgrade. I am staying on iOS 10 till 2019 which is probably when I get the next iPad with an OLED display running iOS 13

I, for one cannot tolerate that home button. Its a deal breaker to me and if Apple didn't have the iPhone X in the lineup I would have jumped ship to Android.
Like all things Apple, a simple google search shows what many already know. People have differing experiences and phones react differently depending on the hardware and software.

I agree Apple has given up on the home button and Touch ID. They are moving ahead.

As far as Youtube, IMO, many that attempt to show side by side comparisons are flawed.

The home button, I like its. Can’t use gestures to unlock a phone whilst it is being pulled from the pocket.

You should use an iPhone X or an iPhone running iOS 10 for a day or two and then try using the iOS 11 home button. There's a huge difference. I use an iPhone X, iPad Pro simultaneously and whenever I use the iPhone 7 Plus, the difference is instantly noticeable.
Unnecessary hyperbole is unnecessary hyperbole nonetheless.

Impressive! I don't have a 5s anymore, but I absolutely loved that phone. One of my favourite iPhones. I had it replaced with an SE that served me well, and still serves well as a travel phone (that Plus model level battery life is incredible in that form factor)

To make your phone last that long, do you use it normally? Or do you turn off certain things like bluetooth, LTE, location services? I used to be able to make my 5s run quite long, easily a day, but I had to turn a bunch of those features off (i presume that's what you meant by eye candy)

Control centre is not used, most notifications are off, I close all apps before sleep, only a few are set to background refresh, BT off, location services off except for a few that are set to in use only, wifi-calling on ( marginal signal at home). Only charge the phone when very low and always charge fully, battery health (using an app) says 96%.

I like the 5S as it's tough, I find that the later models are too large/fragile for my needs. The 4 and 4S were even tougher but they are a bit too slow to keep in use now.
