You do know that both dark mode and customizable control center are included right?

Dark Mode isn't . . . yet.

And by Dark Mode, I'm talking having it like the Clock App but system wide and with the ability for Developers to use it within apps too.

Android O now looking far superior to IOS. Android just keeps on improving while IOS has been stagnant for quite some time.

My phone gets upgraded every 12 months though my carrier Swap plan, so updates are a mute point for me :) Not to mention all my android phones have received at least one major update giving them a 24 month lifespan OS wise.

Not everyone is fortunate to be in the position you are hence only 7% adoption of the latest Android.

This lack of urgency for updates is the one aspect that stops me moving to Android, not necessarily for feature updates, but with the lack of update frequency, it is a security nightmare / hackers dream.

While i agree that alot of people keep a phone longer then 12 months the whole security thing is just overblown. Ive never had my android phone hacked and i don't know anyone that has. I use my phone for almost all of my internet banking btw. However if security is a big issue for you then you can always grab a Pixel which gets the updates straight away.

I find heavy Apple users are usually stuck in the Apple ecosystem and that is the root cause of them not changing to another platform. The best thing i ever did was get out of the Apple ecosystem after the iPhone 4, and back then Android still had a way to go to get near iOS, these days it has surpassed iOS and continues to pull ahead imo. I still use and love Apple products but i stick to Laptops and Desktops which are much easier to use cross platform.

The music app is more refined. I like it.
I don't see any difference.
[doublepost=1496748317][/doublepost]The only thing I'm not too sure about is the new control centre - the UI is taking a while to get used to. I like the new animations and the big fonts don't irritate me.

I think the update is fine. I don't think we'll see a major redesign like 6 to 7 again. It will incremental--so not to piss off people who don't do well with change.
My only disappointment so far is the lack of the ability to use Siri with a keyboard, I'm not always in a situation where I can speak with my phone. This was a big miss IMO.

You can type to Siri now, in General under Accessibility.

. . . Ive never had my android phone hacked and i don't know anyone that has. I use my phone for almost all of my internet banking btw . . .

You would not know you'd been hacked until someone decided to empty your bank account or send you a ransom text.

Many that are hacked are evaluated and not deemed worthy of action.

Anyway, I wasn't commenting on how widespread the threat is, I just don't want to make myself a willing target.

However if security is a big issue for you then you can always grab a Pixel which gets the updates straight away.

The Pixel is supposed to be the pinnacle of everything Android and yet it still only has updates guaranteed for two years – which is pathetic.

Besides, I should be able to choose any Android compatible phone and be confident that I will receive regular updates to add features and protect my privacy / security.

Apple consistently release a security update as soon as it can after a flaw is identified. This cannot be said of any phone within the Android ecosystem currently and until it is, those like me won't be making the move.

Too small of a screen to be truly effective maybe Einstein????
Why don't you invent an OS bro and show the world your true innovating inspiration he he...

If the Dock had the ability to scroll left and right, it wouldn't matter the size of the iPhone screen, it would still provide more functionality than it does at the moment.

Guarantee. They do update more than that.

And Android pushes a security update practically every month.

That's not innovation by any means. Simply an option that Apple hasn't been wanting to provide.

Except for all the new features Apple already showed off today.

Okay they'll I'll propose a different twist on that. Either add more features to Mail, or somehow allow developers to add functionality to it (like a plugin or add-in on a desktop computer), similar to developers adding stickers or apps to iMessage. But I suspect it would be easier to just allow other apps to be the default option.

We are basically the exact opposite in this regard heh. My first two smartphones ran android and they became buggy and slow relatively quickly, especially my GS3. I tried the S6 Edge about a year and a half ago and it also lagged for some reason. Android just isn't what I'm looking for in a phone. I've moved on from the novelty of customizing everything at the expense of stability, it's why I don't waste my time on jailbreaks anymore either. I prefer my phone to work 100% of the time, and I have no need for nonsense such as multi-window multi-tasking on a tiny screen, that's what laptops/desktops are for. On the other hand, for my desktops I see no real value in iMac's. I built my own PC and windows is more useful for the software I use. But that changes again for laptops since most windows based laptops always seem to have more downsides than I want to deal with.

At the end of the day it all comes down to personal preference.

I'm very disappointed that apple didn't do a complete UI redesign on the iPhone. You would think for the 10th anniversary iPhone that they would completely redesign IOS 11. But personally it's getting kind of stale and boring. But they did deliver on the iPad so I'll give them props for that.

That's all good and fine, but that more or less falls into the same type of category of enhancements and additional features that various people want or perhaps even need for different reasons, but not really innovation.

iOS 11 didn't wow folks. Looks like iPhone 8 is where they are hanging their hats on.

Yeah, I know. Evolutionary, not revolutionary.

Just finished installing on iPhone 6s Plus ... Files app is installed .. lots of bold headings , different animations across the system .notifications might take a little re-learning

I guess I don’t have files to really look at and appreciate this feature.

This release probably has the single greatest collection of changes on any update of the last several years.

Wow, what a major let down, still the same UI interface. No grouping of notifications. No group FaceTime, nothing thats fresh. Same dock experience, same static icons. No manual mode or camera settings baked in. I understand they said they have a lot to go over or they don't want to show features that may give away to the next iPhone. These items are all software related. Why can't you FaceTime and do other things at the same time like Android. It may be time to say goodbye.
I'd love to see some High-Quality wireframes of that amazing and "fresh" UI you wanted so much, please.

You might want to take a look at Android if you want a big clock on your homescreen with an ugly weather widget and no harmony between icons.

And then there are plenty of others who are saying that there's basically nothing new or different. Typical.
