Why is it pointless? Do you not remember the majority of iOS releases never make it past X.2.x.

This is not uncommon in the slightest. Plus we are only at beta 3. Majority of X.2 release have at least 5 builds.

Because you have to drop updates if you want to improve the OS. I still expect iOS 11.2 around December 12th.

That means iOS 11.2 only gets 4-5 beta builds. At the very low end of normal. Being that there is no rush to get it out with HomePod, I say the week of the 19th at the earliest, but more likely January.

Why rush something when clearly more work needs to be done.

I know that one of the main features is Airplay 2, but 11.2 is the way to improve iOS 11. They have to release it asap, it is pointless to stay in 11.1 for 3 or 4 months if they are going to release iOS 12 in June.
I’m pretty sure AirPlay 2 is not in 11.2.

I really need messages in iCloud. Being able to set up a new phone with only messages on it is my dream.
At this point. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was delayed till iOS 12. Clearly it’s not working.

I wouldn’t call it rushing. iOS 11 needs a lot more work right? Well, even if they release 11.2 it will still include many bug fixes improving the experience. They can continue working on 11.2.1 or even 11.3. I hope they release 11.2 soon.

5-6 betas and then 11.3 beta... it is the same, and if we continue this trend of updates with iOS 11 we might see iOS 11.4 until we get a polished iOS.

The thing is to continue to fix and improve performance little by little.

How are you counting 6 betas? Week of November 27, beta 4. Week of December 4, beta 5. You said week of 11th for release. That’s 5 betas.

we might get one today before Thanksgiving... it is pure speculation, I said around ,so maybe December 19th. I'm sure we will get 11.2 by mid December.

Those screenshots aren’t really AirPlay 2. AirPlay 2 is when you can control multiple devices at once or send music or video to multiple devices at once.

That just appears to be control your iPhone and an Apple TV. Not multiple Apple TVs or speakers.

We will not get one next week and we already got one this week. They won’t release a beta on Friday before taking 10 days off incase of a huge bug.

Apple is closed for thanksgiving week. Just like every year.

They released 2 MacOS beta this week and since users specify they are using their beta software on a device solely for development they can and have dropped beta releases on a Friday.

Public Beta? That means they would release beta 4 today, and Public beta in 10 days.

it is very, very unlikely we get beta 4 today.

But was it the Friday before a 10 day holiday? Thats the key difference.
Who knows, the holiday might make them want to get it out of the way.

And side note, it’s worth mentioning that they released the 4th beta of 10.2 the Monday after thanksgiving last year, so we could also get 11.2 b4 on the 27th

Yes, thats what I mentioned earlier. Beta 4 week of the 27th.

It is a huge risk to drop a beta today and take 10 days off. Apple has had issues in the past with betas and public releases bricking devices and killing off cellular service. Play it safe, wait till the 27th.

Hopefully it drops. Still don't like any beta so far.
Let me fix that for you.

Wrong because I like my Apple Watch and iPad Pro. Of course they are both on an older OS.

I don't see the point on release 11.2 ASAP if it's still being garbage. I prefer January with the main bugs fixed and polished.

I truly find that hard to believe. All you do is complain about your devices.

I only encounter problems when I upgrade an iPhone to any newer OS. My iPhone 6 was perfect on iOS 8. My iPhone 7 Plus was perfect on iOS 10. It's why I decided not to upgrade my devices and just buy a newer one every year instead. Once I get the X, I am sure it will run splendid on iOS 11 but I won't upgrade it to 12.

My iPad stays on iOS 10 till I get the 2019 iPad.
