You honestly think that that is going to be included in what is probably the last beta? No way. It will need multiple betas of testing. It didn't work properly in 3-4 betas of iOS 11.0, so no way they are only going to test it in one beta.

Not suprised at all. As the financial institutes received their fifth beta yesterday... As this beta for banks only contains only the basic core iOS, this is not the final beta.

Based on things I‘m hearing this morning, the banks expected the final iOS beta (complete iOS) this week. With the phone bug pupping up right prior the Thanksgiving week, the internal testers were informed that another beta was due this week

We clearly have a major showstopper phone bug that has not been fixed in the last 3 builds. I don't see how we could see a final release in a few days. 11.2 is not ready to go.

What is the “showstopper” bug?

Sure....doing a software release heading into the weekend, when you have fewer support and triage resources. Great idea.
Betas have been released on Friday’s on numerous occasions so please get your uninformed being some context before coming at me again

"We" don't have any showstopper bug of any kind. Sorry to hear that you do.

Releasing new software (especially new firmware for phone/tablet/mac(orPCs) is not a boat race. It is not a shame to delay a release, if you can explain it properly and improve the software quality in the mean time. Given the fact Apple never releases detailed release dates (except for x.0 version), we never know the exact date.

The software should run as properly (and secure) as possible for everybody (not only for you (that shall not be an attack on you personally). The "root"-bug in macOS shows that time should not be the main criteria.

If you cannot send out an emergency call because the phone app is not working properly in public release than Apple has a huge problem (especially PR-wise). With a beta version you have to expect flaws in the firmware/software.

The goal of the public beta was to expand the testing to a broader public. But round 90% of public beta testers does not use it to help Apple improve the software, they only want to use the newest stuff. But the later is not the goal Apple had in mind. You only need to look at this thread here.

So Friday?

As financial institute receives their builds a day earlier than developer/public testers, we will see what Thursday evening or Friday morning what happens.

I agree with with your post, but I am curious as to where you are getting the stat of 90% of public testers not sending in feedback. It doesn’t surprise me, but I’m curious if that number is legitimate or just your estimate.

Just an estimation. Could be less, of course. But I assume at least 50% of public beta testers does not know what‘s behind the public beta testing.

I don't know if I agree with you about the beta testers. IMO people who take the time to sign up for the beta are at least somewhat likely to take the time to submit bugs and crashes and whatnot.

I honestly don't remember any of the 10 betas being as bad as these 11 betas have been. Here we are at the 5th 11.2 beta and there are still some serious bugs. Today I was trying to call my wife and the phone app completely froze....that really shouldn't happen on an x.2 beta of any sort, the phone app is kind of the reason you have a PHONE.

For those who were wondering ....THIS is the showstopper bug. And WE do have it.
