To get back on topic, how soon do you guys think it’ll be until 11.1? In the past, the first .1 beta has come out soon after the public release.

You mean erase all content and settings? (Settings>General>Reset)?
Kind of. iTunes restore. iTunes restore reinstalls the OS. Erase all settings/content just wipes out your current data. If there is a corruption issue, erase all settings/content won't fix the corruption issue of the install. iTunes is the only way.

They are probably looking at 11.0.1 first before 11.1 (although work on that is more than likely under way already too).

Is there any chance a carrier adds something to the public release that I’d miss by not updating? I’ve been on the GM since it was released last week. I’d think not but thought I’d ask. I’m on Verizon.

EDIT: Decided to swap my sim into the phone and check. Nothing under software update but a Verizon(carrier) update is there. I put off the install, but wondering what it is. Maybe do it tomorrow.

I know it is offtopic, but do you have any idea of we will get another macOS beta until the final release?

Carriers don’t add anything to these releases. I’m sure they have input on carrier settings, but those are also released from Apple. This is one reason we all get a new version of iOS on the same day, unlike Android.

hopefully we get an update soon. iOS 11 was painful at downloading and installing for me on top of having issues with getting my photos, music and watch to pair correctly. i spent from like noon yesterday till like 9pm working on this thing. part of the problem was the slow watchOS update process.

If there is an update, they’ll probably hold off until Friday when most people have their iPhone 8.

They seeded the GM, so we probably won’t get another beta.

What's the point of backup then?
You use a backup when you aren’t experiencing issues with an install. Restoring a backup that was made on a corrupt install will restore the corruption. Even Apple admits that.

This is why health is now in the cloud and not backup dependent. Too many people would have to restore as new and lose all health data.

last year wasnt it 10 days between the public release and the next update so september 29th for iOS 11.0.1?

Re battery life and backups I’m waiting for messages to go on the cloud and then a device or two will be starting fresh.

Anyone got any inside info on the next ios11 release date. Our leaker ? ;)

It would be great if apple provided an easy way for consumers (not necessarily developers etc) could run a quick diagnostic and be notified a fresh install might help.
There are infinite potential corruptions so it’s a dream, but i would like it!

We cant use iOS 10 to predict anything. It was the only GM that was different than the iPhone release software. It was the only GM to be a X.x.1 build number. Its just too hard to use that because everything of iOS 10 seems to be an outlier.

Yeah, I think it would be nearly impossible to create a diagnostic to test if an install is corrupt or not. There are just too many scenarios and variables.
