It will be 11.1 and likely not 11.0.1 based on leaked Geekbench screenshots and the "reddit guy" specifically said 11.1 and release next week.

My guess is Mon/tues like normal betas

That doesn’t seem all that likely. A x.1 update would be very unusual to come out so quickly.

We will definitely get a 11.0.1 and maybe 11.0.2 and even maybe 11.0.3 before 11.1 is seeded publicly.

I'm not sure Apple's ever done a 'beta' for an x.0.1 release... those are typically releases to fix serious bugs and are usually released within a week of the general release of an x.0 release. The "dot releases" (x.1, x.2) typically add new features, so Apple will do a beta cycle.

Assuming the iPhone X launch with iOS 11.1, that leaves 6 weeks before Nov 3rd.

Apple also have to leave time for the release to be pre-loaded to iPhone, before packaging. So roughly 4-5 weeks.

Enough for how many betas?

I don't think it will ship with 11.1, I think 11.1 will come out with the X, or the following week. No way 11.1 is only going to get 3-4 betas.

im expecting a 11.0.1 being released either tomorrow or sometime next week.
Agreed. If not by 8AM tomorrow, then early next week. Every year that a release has come out on iPhone launch day, it comes out at 8AM PDT because of the new iPhones needing it asap.

11.1 will probably get around 5-6 betas. end of october/early november release? depending on when they seed it to developers.

I'm guessing that 11.1 will bring iCloud Messages and ApplePay through iMessage back. I suppose it could possibly be the version that ships on the iPhone X.

Idk, the reddit guy said 11.1 beta next

Madscotsman35 10 points 1 day ago

first build of 11.1 coming next week

And purportedly Geekbenches have leaked showing 11.1; nothing about any x.x.1 update

My best guess is they will ship the X with 11.0 and then quickly update it to 11.1; give people a chance to beta 11.1 on the X near the end of the builds. Absent being some incredibly short 11.1 beta period which wouldn't make much sense and no one could beta it on the X

As mentioned above that only leaves 3-4 weeks for testing at most. Not enough time to test a X.1 build. Needs a minimum of 6 weeks.

My suspicion is that top priority at Apple right now is getting the LTE / zombie Wifi thing fixed for Apple Watch Series 3. Not to say that the iOS team isn't hard at work, also. I think we'll see 11.0.1 either tomorrow or Monday and maybe the beta for 11.1 on Tuesday. Nothing says 11.1 has to be released with the first iPhone Xs, but that does make some sense. Question is whether Apple Pay Cash will be active on the beta builds or not. I'm guessing it has to be but only if Apple has the requisite approvals.

11.0.1 will be released next Tuesday, and the first build of 11.1 will also drop next week.
Whoa, Reddit guy is in the house! ;)
