I'm mostly curious about WiFi and LTE improvements, since both the modem firmware and carrier version were updated (the latter for Verizon anyways, I didn't compare with the other carriers).
I've consistently had a bad time with both WiFi and LTE on my XS Max since I've gotten it, hoping with each update to see improvements, but not wanting to hop onto this beta just yet
I think its hardware they would of fixed it ages ago the new phones have bad antennas

I have an XS on AT&T with 12.1.2 released yesterday 12/18/18.
I have 200Mbps internet with my isp.
Using Speedtest yesterday on WiFi I got 212 down and 11.6 up.
On AT&T LTE I got 138 down and 16.4 up.

I'm beginning to think the same dan9700. I've never had so much trouble indoors with UK 4g on EE than with my XS Max. My wife uses my old 6S Plus so I need to go out and properly test them side by side, with my SIM card and see if there is an actual difference between them. Whilst I may 'think' there is, this will be the definitive way of finding out for sure.
What I do know is that I never thought about this as much as I am doing now, so something must be wrong somewhere.

So you think the modem firmware and carrier updates are pointless? Genuinely curious as this issue has been frustrating

To be fair i don’t know, but lte data is such a major issue you would think 3 months later its been fixed, like the other guy said my mates 7 plus on ee in the uk has much better signal

Yeah me and my mate are on EE and his 7 plus has much better signal, it’s frustrating such a top of the line phone the max has these issues

in my honest opinion iOS 12 is the most boring release ever for iOS, they don't even add anything slightly new its been such a boring release, bug fixes don't seem to fix important bugs and I dunno they have so much potential and nothing gets changed
It's saved me a lot of money. I find it stable and fast on my 6S. I don't have any important/major bugs either. Happy. My phone will last at least another year.

Initial speed tests are ... lame ... I hate to say it.

I am convinced though that the phone needs time to figure things out.

Initial impressions though ... not so good ... 12.1.2.B1 was way better.

I really wonder if part of the issue is the antenna bands (in the aluminum/steel housing) on the newer iPhones.

Notice how much narrower they are compared to previous iPhones - just a thought). However, the XR antenna bands look a little bigger.

Dudes. I got the xs since release day and it‘s still lagging. If ios 12.2 doesnt fix this im out for a while. My 7 performed waaaaaay better in system „fluid-ness“ than the xs.

Not had a single issue on EE on my XS Max since moving to them in September..... Like I said before, I spend hours each day making and receiving calls on EE and never dropped a call.

eSIM isn't a feature all of us use and that was really just activated with the new phones not the iOS, I mean in general iOS 12 hasn't got anything new, even the FaceTime fix was only cos they messed it up, each release is just bug fixes and the main bug LTE doesn't get fixed more likely its hardware related to new phones
Another frustrating bug is continuing for eSIM, if one network doesn't have signal, call is dropped on another network. Apple is not addressing this issue since quite some time. Is there any option to put off, one network and continue to work on another.

What area might I ask?

I’m in NYC on AT&T with the XS Max and it’s been abysmal since getting the phone at launch. Been through 3 senior advisors now and 2 replacement units. I’ve just about given up hope that this can be remedied by firmware. Just today I’ve been asked again to provide screenshots, logs, and sysdiagnose files. This is now the 5th round of files I’ve provided to the advisors to pass to the engineers. This is a huge issue that apple continues to ignore.

I fully acknowledge it seems the issues don’t impact all units. But I’ve experienced the issue on both my units. Check these tests from just today with 12.1.2. Keep in mind 12.1 and 12.1.1 were no better either.

Not to be snarky, but I don’t think you can say Apple is ignoring it given that they have engineers involved. Sounds like they’re taking it seriously but unable to resolve.

I know there is probably a thread on this somewhere but do the XR’s have the same problems with LTE/WiFi as the XS’s are?

I must be missing something, because I haven’t noticed any signal / data performance issues on my Xs Max with T-Mobile. From what I remember of the X and past phones, this is the same or better. And that’s anecdotal, I haven’t tested actual numbers. I literally don’t feel a difference. I’m on 12.1.2 right now.

Am I the only one?

Installed WatchOS 5.1.3 developer's Beta today. Noticed that the ECG complication does not appear on the watch face even when added in the watch app on the iPhone. The area where the ECG complication should appear remains OFF. Anyone else notice this on their Apple Watch Series 4?

This probably belongs in the Apple Watch forum.
