I was hoping that maybe iOS 12.1 might fix the "Belkin problem," but no such luck. :)

I have what was at the time an expensive dual purpose Belkin charging stand, to hand charging an Apple Watch and an iPhone via Lightning at the same time.

When trying to use the charging stand for the XS Max, the charging cycle constantly starts and re-starts.

Bong...few seconds...bong...few seconds...bong....

I've retired the stand but held onto it in the hopes that maybe a future version of 12.1 might be able to address it. When I complained about it, I was told this was a well known Belkin problem, but I hadn't heard anything about it until the XS Max.

Definitely unusual. The iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X models with Qualcomm chips are the same LTE modems. The carrier update 33.1 is what I received whenever I updated to iOS 12 for my 8 Plus which was downloaded on release day. However, the files would be the same across these models. I've had a small number of drops in calls, incoming calls sent directly to voicemail without me receiving a single ring, delayed messages, etc. It hasn't happened enough that I thought to troubleshoot it until the release of either a revision/patch to 12.0 or update to 12.1. Of course, over half my use is connected to WiFi so I'm not as frustrated as those who are switching cells more frequently whereby signal strength attenuates. Also, I don't use my primary and only mobile phone for typical beta testing. Although, to be more brutally honest, we're all in beta testing whether we agreed to it directly by signing up voluntarily or indirectly by choosing to use their product. No release is without software bugs; they are just minimized in hopes that very few people notice until it's patched. Which usually introduces or helps to surface another problem that needs patched but then that patch causes another bug...{enter favorite loop statement}.

Unusual, I’ve never seen this happen to anyone. Verizon sent me 33.1 not long after again and now I’m back to square one. This HAS to be on Verizon’s end. Everything else has been ruled out.

Edit: everything is up and running on 33.1 now. Turned roaming settings off and it came up. Turned them back on, still up. I’ve done that countless times before and didn’t work. Now it did... Will wait and see if it lasts or not.

My battery ipX has completed only 53 cycles.
Yet in beta 2 ios 12.1, the max capacity is showing 99%.
Is something wrong with battery, or 99% is normal, or is the beta 2 misbehaving.

If 53 cycles represents 1% of your battery capacity (as you have 99% remaining), then you can expect 5300 cycles total...
Have you got a problem with that?? ;-)

Has anyone noticed an issue with the dialler.

  • Dial a number
  • close the dialler while it rings
  • Open dialler and click the dialler option and it just shows dial number again
  • However there is now a green box in left hand side by time which you click to bring up current phone call?
  • If this is by design it’s a rather annoying one! It happens in the 12.0 too?

Updated the first post with EE carrier version 33.5.
My iPhone and iPad Pro on the Verizon network were both updated to carrier version 33.1 with iOS 12.0. I don’t know what the currently offered version on 12.1 Beta 2 is but I would believe it has to be equal to or greater than 33.1. If you want to update the first post to reflect this change, since some people have been having issues with carrier signal, then this may be helpful to answer inquiries of which is the latest version.

Was the device setup after a DFU installation as new or from a backup? If setup from a backup, then try setting it up as new. My intent, when iOS 12.1 and macOS 10.14.1 are released, are clean/new installations and setups. It will be time consuming, along with new backups, but I’m hoping this will alleviate minor quirks that I’ve experienced since only updating from a few major versions back on all my devices.

You can update the first post yourself, it’s a wiki.

My fault. I didn't really look at it or that I had the permissions to edit. I appreciate the correction.

Update: I don't have the correct permissions for editing it. Most likely, because this is a new account. So, someone else would have to do this. In addition, I would believe that since this is an iOS 12.1 Beta 2 thread, then the carrier update for Verizon is greater than 33.1.

Yes, I think you have to have 10 posts before you can edit a wiki.

Anyone here very happy about the battery life in beta 2? I get 30-40 hours of pure usage with my xs thats nice.

Yes. I‘m on my work holidays and since beta 1 its very very good. Much better than 12.0

And I‘m a heavy user. But I have some things disabled like siri or background updates.

Its like having a plus size iphone I hope they dont mess this up. Imagine having a xs max with equivalent battery life I would get 40-55 hours

I had that when first updating to iOS 12. I ended up resetting settings, but I’ve since read that changing your language (from US English to UK English for example), rebooting and changing back should sort it?

Thanks for the hint, changing the language From English to English (US) sorted it out.

I keep discovering that I have several days of apps that need to be updated. Anyone having an issue with auto downloads of app updates not happening automatically? My setting is turned on. This wasn’t happening properly in beta 1 either. Any hints that could explain or fix this?

I’ve never had auto app updates work properly, ever.

This has been the behavior of the dialer since PhoneKit was upgraded to support third party VOIP and dialing apps. It’s a bit funky but I like it cause I can check recent call logs and voicemail while on a call with someone.

Just curious... what carrier versions is everyone using? Mine for Verizon is definitely not 33.0

I’m not a beta tester, but my iPhone XS on Att is on version 32.2. (iOS 12)

Beta 2 working great. Flashlight on lock should have been there !!!
