Discovered that with 12.1b2, my X is no longer connecting to external audio devices when using the USB 2.0/USB C Lightning adapter. Connected to a Schiit Modi Uber 2.

My iPhone X seems to be draining battery FAST on this beta.. It showed 50% (or so) usage in an hour or two for Apple music earlier on today - I haven't even been using Apple music!?

Anyone with similar?

Now that I have a brand new Xs, I am just coasting along on 12.0, munching popcorn and reading through this thread. La de da!

(I just want to experience it on the current OS for a little while, not worrying about battery drain and all that stuff. I'm sure I'll get tired of it soon and rejoin the bleeding edge!)

You might try to place your device into DFU mode for updating the device firmware to iOS 12. Perhaps, after the DFU update, if the directory contains the carrier update, then it will apply those firmware files. I've tarred the two Verizon *.ipcc carrier files for the iPhone and iPad and provided a download link. Possibly, any one else that has the files for other carriers that were released with iOS 12, then they will provide them, as well. The local directory for these files will vary depending upon your OS. In the macOS environment, they are usually located in the '~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Carrier Support/' directory. When in DFU or Recovery mode, then you can allow iTunes to automatically detect and download the iOS *.ipsw file. This is usually stored in the '~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates/' or '~/Library/iTunes/iPad Software Update/' directories. If you choose to not have iTunes download the file or the download doesn't seem to automatically take place by the software, then you can download the appropriate *.ipsw file from https://ipsw.me and transfer it to the directory for your device.

0. Download the *.ipcc and *.ipsw files and transfer them to the iTunes directory
1. Place your device in DFU mode and verify for your specific device
2. Connect your device that's in DFU mode to a compatible personal computer
3. Allow the device to be updated and check that it detects and applies the carrier settings update after iOS
4. Verify in device settings and checking previous problem has been resolved.

Back to 31.1 but still experiencing the issue of No Service. This is frustrating. I’m even on iOS 12.0. SIM card was changed as well as resetting network settings. Oh Mylanta.

Edit: got it back for maybe an hour. It’s gone again.

Edit: talked to Verizon and they sent me 33.0.... working now!! Hopefully it stays this way. 33.1 worked for a bit then stopped... not sure why.

So I have no idea how long this behavior has been standard since I’m new to the X/XS family but I just stumbled upon a behavior where if you swipe left or right on the home bar area it will switch apps forward or backward. Before this, the only way to quickly switch between apps was to slide up then pause until it evoked the app switcher.

Since I’ve own my iPhone X since feb. this behavior has been there in iOS 11-12.

And yes I have amber and emergency elders turned on? Just wondering it’s not a big deal and good thing I didn’t get it in a way lol! But anyone know how this works really?

I got it on Project Fi and also Verizon. As I undersstand that alert is able to come thru no matter what your settings are. It is an emergency channel always open to any smartphone. Are you sure you didn't get it and maybe just missed it? Presidential alerts are something new as I think it used to be called emergency alerts. WW3 or Some type of other attack is what it is reserved for. I wouldn't worry about it. Something big like that happens we're probably all toast anyway.

I’m not worried but I didn’t get it, I was next to the phone and on Facebook when everyone started to talk about and I’m like huh what alert? Lol

Not everyone got the alert or supposedly was going to get one, as was announced about it it seems. Some discussion about it all at https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/presidential-alert.2145331/.

I thought they(media) were referring to "dumb" phones as the ones that would not get it. it's maybe not a perfect system in any case. Both my phones went off simultaneously so wondering what it must have sounded like in a crowded room, store, school etc. Some people maybe didn't even know about it.

I like it a lot, even coming from 7+. Don’t really notice the loss of screen real estate and the usability is so much greater. Face ID is incredible; it’s like having an unlocked phone all the time. Battery life is stellar (one reason I’ve stayed off the beta). Wireless charging is also a real plus.

Right!? That’s what I said about it. It’s so frictionless it feels like you have no security set at all. It was the thing I had the most reservations about, coming from a 7+, but has turned out to be my favorite feature.

I had to hop of the beta at 12 GM because I wouldn’t have been able to put a 12.1 backup on to a 12.0 launch day XS Max. I am perfectly happy with the GM so I don’t want to jinx it now and there doesn’t seem to be anything in 12.1 I’m desperate to get my hands on (LTE and WiFi working well for me)

So I woudl liek to report since updating to 12.1 Beta 2, the HAND OFF started to work on my IMAC, now im now sure is MAc os 10.14.1 Beta 2 did or the Iphone update did it, cause i did them at the same time, but in 12.1 and Mac os 10.14.1 Beta 1 hat feature was def Broken!

Definitely unusual. The iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X models with Qualcomm chips are the same LTE modems. The carrier update 33.1 is what I received whenever I updated to iOS 12 for my 8 Plus which was downloaded on release day. However, the files would be the same across these models. I've had a small number of drops in calls, incoming calls sent directly to voicemail without me receiving a single ring, delayed messages, etc. It hasn't happened enough that I thought to troubleshoot it until the release of either a revision/patch to 12.0 or update to 12.1. Of course, over half my use is connected to WiFi so I'm not as frustrated as those who are switching cells more frequently whereby signal strength attenuates. Also, I don't use my primary and only mobile phone for typical beta testing. Although, to be more brutally honest, we're all in beta testing whether we agreed to it directly by signing up voluntarily or indirectly by choosing to use their product. No release is without software bugs; they are just minimized in hopes that very few people notice until it's patched. Which usually introduces or helps to surface another problem that needs patched but then that patch causes another bug...{enter favorite loop statement}.

Hey all,

Over the past day I’ve had issues with both my airpods and my Bose wireless headphones. There is a clicking sound on the receiving end of call. It’s super choppy and people keep saying they can hear a clicking sound.

Super frustrating. I turned the cell service on and off. Fixed it and then it started up again after a bit.

No issues when it comes to listening to music, videos. Etc.

Anyone else?

Turns out the flashlight and camera click sound *IS* there on my XS Max. I didn’t realize it was on the lock screen. I was checking from CC not the lock screen. My bad.

XS, T-Mobile, inside with 3 bars: 69.9 Mbps down, 4.54 Mbps up LTE. 95.8 Mbps down, 22.9 Mbps up WiFi.
