iOS 12.1 FaceID much slower !!

I tried to update my face id hoping that it will become faster... but didn't work.
I'm pretty new to iPhones so is there an option to downgrade from 12.1 to 12.0.1?
I found some articles on google but is it safe to do it? Any feedback would be much appreciated

Attempt to unlock screen by swiping up.
Expected Results:
When swiping up unlocking used to occur on 12.0.1 before the unlock animation completed.
Actual Results:
Now unlocking will only occur after the unlock animation has completed.
Version/Build:
12.1 (16B92)
Configuration:
Happens with a freshly resorted device setup as new or restored from a backup. Also same result if settings reset or face ID reconfigured.

Just did this. I've also just downgraded back to 12.0.1 and I'm really happy I did so! Face ID works like a charm again! =)
Mine definitely appeared to be slower. Went back to ios 12.0.1 in the meantime which seems to have fixed the issue.
Did you try it before updating? Assuming it came with 12.0.1.
It is most likely a bug, since they probably merged code for FaceID on iPad as they released 12.1, and could get resolved in next iteration. Or maybe a more secure recognition in form of a more sure recognition and that takes time. At worst, it was a case of animation delay being introduced. I'm always surprised how for the smallest of software issues we think to go get an entire device replaced.
Update: I updated back to 12.1 using iTunes and it seems the issue has gone away for me. Face ID works the exact same way as it did on 12.0.1 now. Didn’t really do anything differently other than using iTunes instead of OTA to update. =)
Just did a DFU restore and the results are the same. Starts off fast but after an hour its back to being hit and miss.
My Xs FaceID was slower with 12.1, last night I installed 12.1.1 beta 3 and it’s fast again.

Can anyone else confirm that this has been fixed? I downgraded back to 12.0.1 because of the face id issues, but I've been having super annoying connection issues recently that will probably be resolved with an update.
Well, if anyone else is wondering, I'm on 12.1.2 now and it appears to be just as fast as 12.0.1.
