I decided to break my personal rule about iOS betas and install this "i" build.

I have to say my iPhone XS is incredibly swift and responsive. I really wasn't expecting such an improvement.
It's kind of a shame we're only seeing this kind of improvement now at the tail end of the iOS 12 cycle.

I hope they are able to bring this sort of performance to iOS 13.

None of those ever on my Xs max

Nope. It works the same as a regular iOS update for the most part. Data is left intact. Just remember that betas can have bugs so make sure you’re okay with putting up with them until they are worked out. That being said, I don’t think anyone is having any glaring issues with the current beta.

I only use ipad for watching movies and mild gaming so i guess i am gonna enroll

Has anyone noticed the keyboard on ipad and iphone seem much less touch sensitive. If I don't get a good solid touch on the key it doesn't activate

Gone back to SwiftKey and getting normal response.

Seeing random pauses when playing long songs in Music, Podcasts and SoundCloud (1 hour music mixes). Have experienced this while using AirPods and bluetooth speaker. Not sure if it happens with music on speaker, as I do not listen to music like that.

Reported bug.

Other than that, beta 2 has been awesome.

That's the nature of a development cycle - the most polished release is the final release.

I hope they are able to bring this sort of performance to iOS 13.

As with any major release it's unlikely that you'll see the same performance that you get in 12.4 on 13.0. What you want to see is 13.0 being fairly close to where 12.0 was - if they are able to add a bunch of new features and not lose ground from a year ago in terms of performance then they are in great shape to build onto 13 throughout the next year.

I'll add to this: definitely don't expect to pick up with iOS 13 Dev Preview 1 where we are now. They've given themselves a good pedestal, but early betas of major releases are, by nature, going to have some things going on that impact the performance of a device. Lots of logging; lots of code that needs tweaking, that kind of thing.

Please don't post in the iOS 13 thread during the months of June, July and August about how iOS 13 is a "step back". For me, that'll warrant an almost an immediate block.

Amen to that

You spend your life testing speed and battery ?

Exactly.

Do you say that to everyone who complains about performance or battery life?

A person doesn't have to spend his life testing to notice crappy performance or a quickly draining battery.

But I do spend most of my time doing that these days. :)
