iOS 12 Beta 4 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

In the past I came home at the evening and I still had 70% of battery life. Now I have only 34 and my battery health is very good.

Ok so I have got my new iPhone X, set it up as a new phone and updated to he latest iOS 12 Beta. Used iTunes to restore my back up from yesterday which it has done but none of the apps have been installed, any ideas?

When you restore, it should download all the apps you had directly from the App Store. Did it ask you to enter your passwords for your iCloud and App Store accounts after restoring?

There's a weird bug with Beta 4 that's not allowing app updates to download from the app store. several users are experiencing it (myself included) it could be related to that. All of the app updates are just sitting in waiting status.

Nope.... never had issues with restoring before so I am guessing it's down to the Beta. Just ended up downloading all the apps I needed so not a major issue.

It is interesting to me how vastly different peoples experiences are with these betas. For me, betas 1-3 were very hit and miss. Had a few bugs that drove me crazy but beta 4 has been pretty solid on my 8+. I’d give it a 90% rating. Others seem to have had the exact opposite experience. Wonder why it varies so much?

I have auto brightness and in dark room, brightness at lowest, I tried to wake up phone. Screen stayed black and did not react to lift, touch or power button. Accidentally double clicked power button and it activated apple pay and after that all was normal.

Same issue here, I hope it will get fixed in the next beta. The first time it happened to me I was inside the cinema and I freaked out because I thought it was some kind of automatic control from the cinema for everyone to have their phone off during the movie (which would be ilegal).

Long time lurker. I thought I’d join up to ask a question. I’m on iOS 12 Beta 4. Could someone please confirm a bug for me ? Turn on reduced motion > make a call & go to the home screen or app switcher. It will flicker for a moment. I’m on an iPhone 8 does this happen to anyone else?? Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Is anyone experiencing Bluetooth speaker issues on beta 4?

I have a speaker that connects, but the music sounds like it’s cracking up. It’s almost like it isn’t fully connected. When I immediately forget the device and reconnect, it’s fine.

It does this randomly. Trying to determine if it’s the speaker or beta. This is happening on my iPad 10.5. Thanks.

I really wish Apple would change the battery statistics page so that it resets after each full charge.

Still keep the 10 day stats. But it would be more useful to see if something has gone rogue if it reset after each charge. Otherwise depending on when you look at it in the day you will get different stats as to what’s been discharging the battery.

Eg I took my phone off charge at 0600 this morning. At that point the phone tells me everything that has been draining the battery since 0600 yesterday.

However if I look at it at 1500 today it will tell me what’s been draining it since 1500 yesterday and will also tell me that I’ve charged it in this time.

I like that you can drill down into hour by hour. But it would still make it far easier if they made the 24hr stats reset after each charge.

I’ve suggested this since they started doing the battery life. But they don’t seem to care.

I think all the battery info displayed is what’s eating up all the battery lol just kidding but seriously I don’t even bother looking at he battery info anymore it’s just too much and doesn’t really help me at all I just want the drain too stop

I had to turn off automatic app updates then hard reset then turn on automatic updates again

Solve it this way: Install the backup on 11.4.1, not 12. When all apps are downloaded, update to iOS 12. (I suppose your backup is from iOS 11.)

Is this a new feature? When navigating using Apple Maps, I put the device into sleep. It will automatically wake the device whenever it is 1-2 miles to make a turn, exit ramp or nearing destination.

I never actually put my device on sleep when navigating before.

It has been working that way since iOS 7

Try using low power mode I do all the time for Maps as it sucks through battery life ! It looks different but works well and saves power !

Yeah its been there for a long time and its the reason why I still use Apple maps over google or waze... That is a huge battery saver. I am able to lock my phone and shut off the screen on long drives... and just have maps wake up and let me know the next turn on the lock screen.

I found this one by accident a few months ago and love it. But I always get the bug where the screen wakes up and very quickly the notification centre scrolls down then instantly followed by the widget screen sliding in. Always happens. I raised it with Apple as a bug but heard nothing back. Anyone else experienced this?

It's quite disconcerting that falling back to iOS 11.4.1 does not fix the issue. Very annoying. Thanks for posting as I won't bother doing that in the future. I too am waiting for future beta updates and hope it gets sorted.
If you haven't done so already, make sure you report it to Apple via the feedback app.

I did report this to Apple but didn’t get any feedback. I’ve updated to public beta 4 today and this resolved the WiFi issue for me on both 2g & 5g.
