To release in time for the XR which I’m sure is the target date for 12.1 I’m sure they will switch to weekly.

the new ipad pros (2018) will come with iOS 12.1 pre installed and those are supposedly out at the end of this month so 12.1 will need to be done in time for those new ipads being released.

The iPhone X didn’t ship with 11.1, and the iPad Pro 2017 models shipped with iOS 10.3.

Why do the new ones need to ship with 12.1?

iPhone XRs are already well into production. For them to ship with 12.1, that means they had the “GM” of 12.1 a couple weeks back. I know Apple is ahead internally, but not the entire 12.1 testing cycle.

because there is code within 12.1 that mentions ipadpro2018fall

faceID for the ipads is also in 12.1 not the current released version of 12.0.1

Alright, I will concede on the iPad, but not XR shipping with 12.1.

But the article also mentions early November as well. So it doesn’t need to be an October event/release. It could be an October event with a November release, or both in November.

But my point still stands for the XR. There is no way iOS 12.1 was ready to ship 3+ weeks ago. My iPhone XS is from the middle of August, 5 weeks before launch day.

could not find any .1 releases that came out in november before. so im thinking it will be out before the 31st at the latest.

11.1 came out November 9th, 6 days after iPhone X.

11.1.1 came out November 9th. Google failed me. 11.1 came out 10/31, still prior to the X but the X did not ship with it. My entire point is, XR does not need to ship with 12.1.

arent we a week ahead when it comes to beta 3 compared to 11.1 beta 3 last year?

if i recall last year we had beta 3 and beta 4 in the same week. so maybe we will get beta 4 on friday?

don't count on this at all but thought would let you know, I was in the apple store today and was speaking to someone who was clued up and we spoke about the LTE issue and he said he has heard tomorrow apple will drop an update, I said I doubt it as 12.0.1 just dropped but who knows maybe he got confused but just wanted to let you know I still doubt it but who knows
