Being how far ahead Apple is internally, unless something major comes up, I would think the GM is already done.
I still don't get this thought process. Why in the world would Apple send out buggy software to be tested every 2-3 weeks and deal with millions of feedback reports to wade through regarding issues they have already fixed if they already have the final version? Sorry but that just makes no since. :) I do agree they have newer builds internally than what gets released in those weeks but certainly not a final GM already. More likely newer daily builds to be released at 2-3 week intervals to the developer community.

Now, let's speculate when the next iteration of Shortcuts will drop. Want to see newer features!

Edit: sorry, I didn’t read your post to the end, below may be irrelevant :(
Development probably goes in cycles of 1-3 weeks and the builds that come out of that then have to be tested internally before they can be released to beta testers. Many issues will come up during internal testing and will be raised as bugs for the internal developers fix, but they usually won’t be bad enough to stop a release (unless they are). It’s still worth releasing them because beta testers will still be able to find other bugs, and beta testers will want to see progress happening. Apple do release a list of common known issues with each release so as to avoid duplicate bugs.

I don't think we will see anything new till 12.0.1 is my guess...

There are x.0 betas up until a few weeks or so before the September iPhone event, then we get the GM that day, a week before release. Happens every year.

Think of it from this perspective. Most of the major bugs, Apple themselves have discovered, hence the reason why they are written in the release notes as known issues and having workarounds. Therefore, they know what they need to fix before the final release comes out. Developers are reporting rather small issues in comparison. Thats why many small bugs that we discover throughout the summer still make it to the GM because they are not game-breaking.

Others may have known this.. and it didn’t work for PB2.. but found a ‘hack’ to d/l the update over cellular. Just start it on a hotspot (I use my iPad on cellular) and then turn off the hotspot..it has downloaded and is installing now.

You are not going to see Shortcuts in a beta. It is going to be its own app, like Workflow.
Nope. Its already in beta and on my phone. I'm looking for the next beta on Test Flight.

(and, yes, I could see how you could misundertand what I meant, since I posted in the 12.x.x Speculation forum).

They might certainly be working on candidates for that, but it's not likely that it's done as they are more than likely still at least tweaking some things and fixing some bugs (if not more than that).

By history, no X.0 beta 4 has ever been 7 days. A few 8 days, but never 7.

http://www.thinkybits.com/blog/iOS-versions/

It’s hard to say from that chart. iOS 11 had more betas than all the others and seeing as iOS 12 is more or less a polished release they may spread the days out even more to 30-40+ days for the fifth beta like they did with iOS 8 and 9, mainly because there would be less need for more betas seeing as these betas have had the least amount of bugs in a while (although beta 4 seems to have made some things worse).

Edit: Nevermind. I was focusing on the fifth beta’s days in beta for some reason rather than beta 4.
