I’m getting curious about the release date/new phone announcement date. Any guesses?

I’m going to say:

Announce. 9/4 or 5
Online order start: 9/7
iOS 12 release: 9/12
Phones in stores: 9/14

It’s possible all these dates could be pushed back one week.

Beta 5, not beta 4
We are currently on beta 4. If you look at the chart you will see no beta 4 has been 7 days.

If the announcement is the week of Labor Day, it falls on the Wednesday, so the 5th. If the next week, then the Tuesday, so the 11th.

I'm hoping they run the release like they did last year with the launch a month out from announcement. I think that made all the difference in availability. I was able to walk in the store on launch day and pick up the X.

Always picked up at the local store but this year it’s closed for renovations :(

I wouldn’t count on it. I think that only occurred last year due to the manufacturing issues with the Face ID camera system. I think they want as many pre Christmas selling days as possible.

I think stock will be plentiful this year on time given the faceid doesn’t sound like it’s getting any significant changes and is being manufactured at scale. I am curious what annual upgrade program members will have to do given there’s about 1.5 months until 12 months is hit.

I paid my iPhone X off this year so I can upgrade now if I choose to. The only thing to sway me into upgrading is if there is a plus version of the X coming out. I’m still undecided if I want to upgrade or not.

beta 5 this week?
Honestly, I say no. Would I be shocked if we get one, also no. But 11 years of history has never been exactly 1 week for Beta 4->5. I’ve been wrong lately when I use history, but I have a gut feeling it’s the 31st.

But in ios 10 beta 4->5 was 8 days...

That’s not 7. If you want to say it’s possible for it to be released on Wednesday, I would agree. But betas are being released on Tuesday for iOS 12, thus, I think this week is unlikely.

I’ve previously mentioned that there are plenty of 8 days, but no 7.

If they stick to bi-weekly then we will only end up with like 5-6 beta’s, 11.4.1 had at least that many and was a very small release..

Generally a week release between betas for step upgrades are due to something major that is broken. If not they will stick to the biweekly releases until we get closer to the GM.
We are already closer to the GM. GM will be seeded on the day of iPhone X2 announcement that is first week of September. Weekly betas might start anytime soon. But my guess is they will start from beta 6 onwards and take it all up to beta 9. Then 2 weeks of deafening silence until GM drops.

For the Xs (or whatever they will be) phones too, or do you think they will be a month+ later like the iPhone X last year?

I think they’ll all be released in September. By this time last year, there were already rumors of manufacturing issues. Not hearing anything like that this year. They want as many selling days before Christmas as they can get, trust me. X wasn’t in general supply until mid-December last year. That’s not good for revenue.
