After updating to 2.2 my 8 plus is having issues with messages. The app is crashing and has a pause and flicker when first opens. Worst update of all.

I have not seen it crashing but am trying to verify that it works. I sent a text to my son and asked him to verify and I haven't heard back. I'm going to try it with my backup phone.

Just verified that Messages is working on 7+

Yes, thank you for pointing this out as it is doing this. Did you happen to find a fix for it?

Leave overnight with connected wifi and under the charger.
At night, the gallery was updated.

Can you be a little more specific here? What do we need to do after a downgrade from the beta to get everything working properly again?

Read the entire topic, everything is described

Yeah but in my 11 Pro. I also did the downgrade from 13.3.b1 to 13.2.2 and realized a few hours later that it broke iCloud in the files app. After trying everything I could think of with no fix, I reloaded 13.3.b1 and it started working again.

I wonder if any one else that downgraded without restoring are experiencing this issue?

Anyway, 13.3.b1 is running great so except for some missing headphone graphics, I find it the same or slightly better than 13.2.2.
If you downgrade via “update” its a good idea to perform the ‘reset all settings’ option. That will also leave your data intact. It will typically resolve weird issues and is generally a good idea when changing versions.
everyone, i don’t think it’s a great idea, in general to downgrade iOS. And especially from 13.3beta 1 which is essentially a big fi release and quite stable. You risk getting the opposite effect (instability). And when iCloud is involved things get scary quite fast (a blackbox where you have no control)
Agree! But if folks choose to do so using the reset all settings afterwards can help return stability.

We may see better battery life in this update too. When background apps are killed they have to be relaunched when you go back to them; this uses a lot of unnecessary CPU and flash memory access. Keeping the set of apps you use most in RAM and preventing the relaunching should extend battery life, especially on devices with more RAM.

I'm really happy with this update; it's nice to see RadarScope and Telegram, which I use regularly, staying in memory even overnight. :)

Possibly. On the other hand killing off apps potentially prevented various ones from doing things in the background and cut down on battery usage related to that.

I think so too. I'm not sure if the mail issue was a bug or a side-effect of another bug but much faster mail loading may mean that something that was consuming a lot of cycles isn't now.

Don't modern operating systems swap memory to permanent storage when needed to allow multitasking to work?

So nobody cares about them taking away the ability to save images directly from emails? After a year or 2 of not being able to save them from email, they finally fixed it so that we could, and now with 13.2.2 we can’t again.

This isn’t important to anyone?

iOS doesn’t technically have any multitasking capabilities. Anytime you minimize an app it’s essentially frozen unless it’s one of the background audio apps etc. Nothing runs in the background except a selected few and that is why it’s better to just not kill off the apps from the task switcher manually and let iOS take care of it.

I'm on 13.2.2, I E-mailed myself an image and was able to save it from the E-mail. What are you seeing?

I'm able to 3D Touch an image in an email and choose save to photos. Is that the same or different than what you're describing?

After all my vocal complaints I’m a little hesitant to say this, but my 11PM actually seems to be working as expected now. Fingers crossed, btdt and been hosed.

Sorry should of been more specific. Not as a attachment, an image that is part of the email.
Normally you could press down on the image and the menu would pop up saying Open, or Add to Reading List, and the option was there “Add to Photos” for the past few updates. But now that option is gone.

That is what I am referring to. I no longer have the “Add to Photos” option. It was there for the past few updates but now it’s gone, not showing up at all. I’m strictly talking about embedded images, not attachments.

There are actually plenty of background execution capabilities in iOS. There are general restrictions with some exceptions relating to apps that do audio playback, location tracking, and a few other functionalities. Nonetheless, there have been plenty of examples of all kinds of apps abusing those abilities to one degree or another. So, yes, typically most apps follow along with the requirements most of the time, but that isn't always the case by far. No one is saying that all apps need to be closed out all the time or anything like that, simply that there is background usage that can happen and often enough is present to one degree or another for at least some apps. And that's all assuming everything around that is working as it should and there aren't some bugs (that might not even be obvious) that might be in play somewhere.

Getting a short email app freeze after jumping directly from any mail notification on the lock screen.

The mail app opens up and stays unresponsive for about 4 seconds, then it works.

Anyone?

Yes.
Have you reported?

I installed iOS 13.2.2 on iPhone and iPad. Unfortunately, the synchronization of browsing history between devices is still not working properly. That is, pages visited on the iPad do not appear in the browsing history on the iPhone and vice versa. Do you have a similar problem?
I have reset both devices and installed iOS via restore. Log out from iCloud, log in again. No changes...

Handoff and open Safari tabs in the iCloud are working fine between devices.

I seem to remember going to iCloud settings and toggling Safari’s use of iCloud off and on fixed this for me.

That only works the one time you do it. I’ve both toggled and signed out of iCloud altogether. Both will trigger an immediate sync but no further history syncs occur. I ran through all this when 13.0 was first release, no resolution yet.
