My use is similar. I use the Apple ecosystem for files access to get data I need in my business, emails when I want to send or receive them, web access when I need it and a good camera is useful. This has to be as secure as practicable i.e. not Android and has to be on as large a screen in as small a form factor (for me) as available which means I use a XS (not Max). Cost isn’t an issue. To that end I have almost everything switched off unless I need it e.g. no routine background App refresh, only manual email, no Facebook / Twitter etc. If anyone needs me, they can text or phone - if they have the number. On a good week I have to charge my XS after about 6 day, on a heavy week, after about 4 days. Sure the phone can do a lot more but that is a lot more of stuff that I don’t need or wantWell I’m not really doing anything to stunt my experience. I turn on location services for navigation purposes only, otherwise for me it doesn’t need to be on. As far as email, I don’t get much so I just fetch manually.
... and I really only went to “13” for dark mode but now with “13.2.2“ I also have now have got back reliable email at last.
