Is mail screwed for everyone or just me? Long pauses for switching folders and I can’t get gmail to download anything.

Can you give detailed instructions on how to update? I have the IPSW file downloaded (I’m not a dev, I used the download link from previous page)
Alt/option + check for update button. Then it should bring up a window to browse for the ipsw. Double click it and you should be good.
I have this exact issue with 13GM with the long pauses, not just switching folders but also opening and closing emails, blank inbox with All Mailboxes. I have 1 iCloud, 1 Outlook.com and 1 Work Exchange account.
I updated back to 13.1.b3 and everything works fine.

Thanks for the confirmation, I came from 13.1 where everything was working adequately.
It is because you updated from 13.1 to 13GM. You have to restore to 13GM for everything to work properly
Why do some people claim you need Xcode and other strange tools to install it if it’s as easy as that?
Same here on multiple devices. Even coming to 13 GM from 12.4 it has this issue. I am moving onto 13.1 beta 3 where i did not see these issues (Well for the couple hours I tried it anyways)
I tried a fresh install and setup as new and it still caused those issues
not sure, but I saw a couple people tried it with iTunes and it worked, so I tried it and it worked for me as well.
Yeah Mail still sucks. My test device has an exchange account and I sent it one test email on top of one unread email. The badge only showed one read email. I opened Mail and it had the two unread emails. Went back to the home screen and the badge still only showed one. Opened Mail, still two unread emails. Went back home, finally a second badge. Shame this is going to be the public release version. Why couldn't they put the 13.1 beta 2 mail fixes into it? It worked pretty well.
iOS 13 so far is a disaster. With a late release on the 19, and immediately scheduled the next .1 update on the 30th and delay the iPadOS release on the 30th as well mean a lot to me. It does make me believe they know iOS 13 is not quite ready yet.
I'm afraid I"ll have to stay on 12.4.1 for a while on my main device. Just for security purpose, how long can you keep a hold version with decent security protection?

I took the plunge and upgraded. Everything is super fast once the initial indexing was done. Like super fast. Apps start so much faster. Report back once you have upgraded.
Tried to update my iPhone XS Max to the GM, downloaded the Xcode 11 beta, I am a proper developer, I've done this many times before aaaaand, my phone failed and is in recovery mode. ****
Updated to GM from beta 8, noticed the big speed bump too.
Was on 12.4, updated to GM. So far so good. Surprised how quick everything is. I use gmail app so no mail issues for me so far.
Just updated. CPU was stuck at 55% load and phone was getting hot. Shut it down turned it back on and the phone idled right down... all is well now.

Anybody know what system customization is under location system services is? I turned it off. Also noticed Apple Pay merchant identification is a new one. I left that one on though.

The system customization entry is so that iOS can adjust the light or dark mode depending on the time of day, IIRC.
