iOS 14.2 Beta 4

Release Date ―
October 20, 2020
Build Number ― 18B5083a
Darwin Kernel Version ― 20.1.0: Tue Oct 13 09:52:10 PDT 2020; root:xnu-7195.40.143~17

iOS 14.2 Beta 4 Release Notes

New Features & Changes

  • New wallpapers
  • Memoji and Memoji Stickers app icons changed.
New Issues
Remaining Issues

  • Calendar widget removes events from display 15 minutes after the start-time even when the duration is longer
  • Exporting an edited photo corrupts/deletes the IPTC fields. A "revert to original" is needed to get them back. I think this started in beta 2.
Resolved Issues

Crossing fingers this works with the iPhone 12...

It should work usually. Any reason why it would not ?

I have been getting the phones on the first day always and since I always run beta I end up upgrading the new phone immediately. I intend to do that once I get my iPhone 12 this week.

I thought Apple has to release a new version that is compatible with the iPhone 12, either on launch day or today, with this beta. Otherwise, it would not show up as an update even with the beta profile installed. I think last year it was released same day as iPhone 11, but I don’t know if that was the case for iPhone XS or earlier.

They normally post it on Friday late morning Eastern Time.

Ew...now there’s a “suggested” folder in the App Library for Siri suggestions.

Can’t figure out how to turn that off yet, if at all...

I open up the phone and set it up really quickly (saying no to everything, not logging in to iCloud, etc.), open Safari and download and install the developer profile, let it update, and when it's restarted, use "erase all content and settings", which wipes the phone and allows you to set it up as new, including loading an iCloud backup.

Here’s to hoping that the Dev profile is compatible at 8am Eastern on Friday! 😂
