iOS 14.2 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

iOS 14 is still so buggy for me.

• Safari regularly crashes for me on my iPad.
• I use the Screen Time content restrictions for Safari and whenever I add a new website on the ”allowed” list, Safari immediately crashes on both my iPad and iPhone.
• Notes still is very jumpy and random when using the Apple Pencil (this has been happening since iOS 12)
• Notes randomly greys out the undo button while using the Apple Pencil
• Automatic Switching for AirPods Pro is an absolute mess. Doesn’t work reliably. Most of the time that I try to connect my AirPods to my iPhone, my iPhone just freezes for like 5-10 seconds until they maybe connect. It’ll say that my AirPods are connected in Bluetooth in control center, but won’t show the AirPods on the volume slider in control center and audio won’t play through them. Absolute mess.
• Half of the time that I open Spotify in Slide Over, it just immediately crashes (I realize this may be Spotify’s fault, not Apple’s)
• Whenever I open an app on my iPad, the loading screen for the app, is always on the left 1/3 of the screen, rather than loading in the center middle like it’s supposed to
• If you tap widgets on the iPad Home Screen when they’re on that column on the left, it launches the app for the widget. But if I do this same thing but instead by pulling the Lock Screen down and swiping to the right to get to the widgets, none of the widgets launch their apps when I tap on them. They just do nothing.
• iMessage typing freezing/delay when first responding to a message.

And this is just what I can think of off the top of my head. I’ve never consistently had so many bugs in my Apple device history as I have since iOS 14. It’s a lot of little annoyances that grow to be very irritating and large when experienced everyday.

Yeah I have iOS 14 .1 on iPhone 7 Plus and apps are crashing on me and when I am on a app for a while my phone just randomly resets for no reason

Sounds like it might be with updating to see if it might help.

My wife’s 11 pro will randomly turn the volume all the way up or all way down when she is watching videos. It’s happened on Netflix and YouTube. Anybody else? Happened on 14.1 and continues on 14.2.

So I reset my phone seems fine now should I update to 14.2 because I tried yesterday and there was a error

Does anyone else have issues with lyrics not showing on music ? On 14.2 and iPhone 11. All show as attached

edit- apparently only available if you subscribe to Apple Music and I don’t anymore.

The bad part is that Apple deleted all my songs lyrics too!! I saw them in iTunes but not anymore on my iPad 🤬
Cannot have lyrics using AirPods Pro as it was promised with Shazam 😡

Are they ever going to fix volume when receiving notifications? I lowered it to 2% and it is still annoyingly loud?!

I think the two inconsistencies I experience more often would be the now playing section appearing on the Lock Screen and Notification Center simply when I put an AirPod in my ear, and calls that come in when my phone is locked but half the time not displaying the slider to answer the call and instead showing the green answer and red decline buttons (as if the phone is unlocked event though it's not).

I get the same thing when I receive a call - no slide to answer, but instead I get the answer and end buttons.

I’ve seen many references to people not receiving iMessage notifications. I’m not getting any notifications, such as alerts from news apps. Do others have this problem?

I thought Apple was putting measures in place last year to prevent issues like this from happening and getting released? Sure maybe some people have no issues, but 14.2 seems like a disaster with all these random problems happening. This is just unacceptable and embarrassing coming from Apple. Then you look at two of their recent product launches, the iPhone 12/Pro which is having 5G and missing message issues and the iPad Air 4 which seems to have some bad backlight bleeding problems. What is going on there?

I submitted a bug report for the missing notifications from iMessage almost a month ago when 14.2 came out and I haven't heard a word from Apple.

Well done! But don't hold your breath : they ignored all so far if not we would have had some fix

Ever since I updated to IOS 14.2, I have experienced more freezes and bugs than usual. There is 1 particular issue that bothers me. Whenever I refresh my stock email app, it wouldn't refresh and load the new messages. I would also notice the same issue with app updates on the app store where it doesn't refresh. I am stuck at the circle loading prompt. Whenever I go to settings and click on an app, the whole setting app just freezes. I had to power off and restart my phone and these issues that I mentioned will clear up. I have gigabit internet with a stable connection, so this isn't an issue with my internet. I went to the apple store and have called apple many times over the phone as well, and they too could not figure out the problem and advised me to continue restarting the phone to clear up this issue, which I find is not acceptable when it occurs more than 5 times a day. There could be an issue with IOS 14 or some backend issue that apple is not aware of. I hope it gets resolved with IOS 14.3...

I have always praised Apple and IOS for being such a stable OS for many years, but in recent times, they have been mediocre and that's disappointing. IOS 13 was terrible at launch, but got better with the final update. IOS 14 appears stable at launch, but there are annoying issues that creep up after a while.

The iMessage typing lag bug showed up again on my iPhone 11 the other day. A reboot seemed to fix it.
