What blows my mind is that this should be one of the most basic functions and yet, somehow, they screwed it up.
Yes and it's such a big deal (and safety issue) that they should have been up front and announced "yes we know about it and are doing everything to fix it". I literally have my 12 Pro up for sale because it got so bad.

Night Shift set to automatically turn on and off by sunrise / sunset is still not working after a reboot on my 12 Pro Max. I need to go into the privacy settings > Location Services > System and toggle it off and on for it to start working again. Otherwise it doesn’t seem to get that it’s already dark outside after a reboot

It's just such a weird bug for a basic thing. If I toggle bluetooth off, it works. If I toggle it back on, sometimes it works. If I restart my phone, it defaults to not working again.

This should be as basic as getting phone calls. And now I've probably jinxed iOS' phone call functionality.

My earlier post addressed the lyrics button in AM being grayed out.

I'm going to get into Apple Music and find this song and see if it shows up for me.

EDIT - Guess it worked for me.

SMS was working for me but RC 1 screwed it up again. Hoping this is the fix. Hesitating to put my sim back into the iPhone until I get some verification. I need a phone that can do a simple SMS.

Also, right now, I've got iMessage turned off and I've deregistered my phone number and text notifications are waking my lock screen. Even after a restart; bluetooth on. Must be a bug in iMessage itself? Some crossing of the streams or something. Who knows? For now, it works.

Until this gets sorted, this is how I'll live for the foreseeable future, I suppose.

Thanks. I never thought to ask but I've been all but convinced it's a me issue because it's been all music across several iterations of iOS. I have case open with Apple Support but that'll probably fall to the wayside like pretty much every other case I've opened with them.

Yep, the bluetooth toggle works for me on the iPP (but, I guess it doesn't work for everyone on other devices 🤷🏼‍♂️). Though, somewhat relatedly, I find there are other bluetooth-related gremlins across all my devices that seem to work if BT is fully toggled off on non-priority devices:
- Switching AirPods v2 from any source to my S6 Watch (happened with the S4 also) makes any audio sound 'slowed down' for a second before the audio completely cuts out. Toggling BT on the Watch restores full functionality. However, there are no issues switching the APs from the Watch to any other device.
- Taking a call on the Watch with APs will automatically route the call through my iP11 and switch the APs over, but I don't want this because we still cannot control the volume of a phone call on the APs via the Digital Crown on the watch when the call is going through the phone (but we can control music volume via the Digital Crown). 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️ So, I use my Watch for call functionality so I can control the volume in the APs, and –you guessed it!– toggling BT off on the phone solves this issue as long as I also toggle off cell on the phone (basically isolating all calls to my Watch).
- Inserting APs will automatically make them connect to the 11" iPP despite playing music on other devices. I have to actively pull the APs to connect to the desired source (e.g., the M1 MBP), and even then they sometimes stay 'linked' to the iPP. Toggling BT off on the iPP solves this issue (as it obviously would).

I'm beginning to think there is a pattern here... 🤔

See my post #38.

Can't say this is a solution for everyone, but it's working for me at the moment. I'm not having any other issues really. And I DFU restored my phone last night and set it up as new. It's making me wonder if it's an iMessage issue, something in the API, maybe?

Time will tell, of course.

Hoping someone would be kind enough to check something for me. Installed RC 2 and still same issue. In the phone app, I have favorite contacts with either pictures or the initials that the phone generates. When I click on any of the other tabs at the bottom of the phone app then go back to the favorites tab, in about 1-3 seconds, all the contact photo thumbnails blink/flicker for a split second. Is anyone else seeing this? Never had this on any other update. I went as far as deleting all pics and reloading them thinking perhaps photos were corrupt, but the issue still persists. This only occurs in the phone favorites tab, not in any other element with photos. I appreciate anyone verifying.

I’m on RC2 and just tried as you requested, and can confirm that I see the same.

Yes, getting that also. Quick flicker, but seems to be working fine otherwise.

Apple seriously needs to rewrite their contact photo bit. The cropping bug has been persistent over a lot of years worth of iOS updates. It's gotten to the point where I need to crop a copy of a photo specifically for the contact photo by cutting out everything but that person's face otherwise iOS will crop and zoom in on some random space of the selected photo.
