iOS 14.5 Beta 1 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

In the UK Now TV does not work on this beta. It crashes out when loading. Luckily I didnt update all of my devices. That’s three non-functional TV services that have been reported in this thread.
 
Any idea when Apple might release 14.5 GM? I’m getting tired of password with mask and cannot roll back beta on the watch didn’t want to risk installing.

incredible battery drain on this beta:
went from 80% to 40% overnight on 12 pro max.
any other with the same issue?

Anyone had a problem syncing contacts? I have public beta, then signed out of iCloud. Removed data from my phone. Signed in again. But now only 150 contacts will sync to my phone. The contacts still exist on the web. Tried turning off/on contact sync but didn’t help.

I don't know, but I think soon: they have released no iOS 14.5 beta 2 (or 3, or 4...), which, IMO, means they are focusing on the final bugfixing before releasing.

P.s. I think they now call them RC.

what WiFi hardware are you using? I use Google WiFi…. But doubt that is the issue as the phone can’t see any WiFi networks until I reboot the phone.

disabling and enabling WiFi does not fix it, nor does airplane mode.

watch remains connected to WiFi throughout

Same here with 12 Pro. Wifi fails and only cured with restart. Not seen on my iPad also on beta. Will file with Apple.

Normally beta 1 of any release is behind the code updations as compared to the previous public release.
Similarly beta 2 of 14.5 will be better than 14.4 RC, although beta 1 is not expected to be better than 14.4 RC.
 
So after hanging out with someone with a 12 Pro for a week and dealing with having to top up my Mini battery several times throughout my days snowboarding I got myself another Pro. The issues I was having with my mini are nonexistent.

The biggest one, which was a very pleasant surprise, is the phone and my Apple TVs communicating as they should. With the mini, the password auto fill never worked and that was horrific because of the auto-generated passwords I use. Also, it’s still early days but I’ve yet to see any Bluetooth connection issues with my car either.

I highly doubt it. There was only beta 1 so far, and the next beta usually arrives 2 weeks after the first one. So we should get beta 2 on Tuesday February 16th.

HomePod handoff via proximity is broken with all my HomePods - std and mini.) The Pod face goes white and then nothing. I have rebooted, soft reset etc etc etc. I can still redirect with the popup. But I use this feature a lot.
Network also looks flaky.
 
Will 14.5 HomePod update enable YouTube music and Spotify in HomePod direct play without AirPlay.

ah ok, I thought they released a beta each week.

How many betas do you think there will be before the RC?
 
Only way my watch (series 5) was connected after a full reset to my 12 pro max and a fresh install to all apps.

I’m using the AmpliFi Alien but that’s not why it disconnects. It happens at work also… I’ve filed feedback. Hopefully its fixed and the next beta as I have a iPhone 7 and iPad that doesn’t have this issue.

I have the Alien as well. Fantastic router.
