Anyone using the external battery cover from Apple? As of iOS 14.6. i no longer see two battery icons whenever the device is plugged into power. Only one battery level is being displayed showing the state of charge of the phone.
The SoC of the battery cover can only be seen in the notification center.

Just tested and my iPad 11 Pro is booting with the Apple logo in landscape without issue, when oriented that way.
Odd. I have a 2020 11", with no keyboard, and it doesn't since updating to 14.6. I keep it locked in landscape.

As before, the passcode screen is displayed in landscape, but the Apple logo black screen doesn't again, and the wallpaper has to rotate back after the initial unlocking after reboot.

No battery issues, though.

Have you tried unlocking Landscape mode, rebooting. Position in landscape mode then rebooting to test?

YES! Me too. Also when you charge them both to full it will drain the internal battery instead of the case first. The only way to get the case to drain first is taking the case off and putting it back on!

I’ve already gone down the ocd rabbit hole of restoring and setting up as new and still the same behavior. It’s totally a 14.6 thing.

Still updating to IOS 14.6, I have noticed lag on WiFi and certain apps problems streaming videos, lagging, You Tube is one example, never had these issues while on IOS 14.5.1

Yes, I messed around with unlocking it, and rebooting, and that worked. Whatever flag that wasn't properly set, read or being ignored, was jiggled into place by doing that, and now it works properly.

Does yours drain from the iPhone first after taking it off of the charger?

Dictation isn’t working for me when trying to use it in rich notifications from the Lock Screen. Really annoying.

Safari tends to have issues or simply doesn’t load search bars in websites on both iOS and iPad OS. Other links on pages will work and can be clicked on but when it comes to search bars within a website, for some odd reasons it simply doesn’t respond. In fact, maybe it’s time I try Firefox since Safari keeps having loading issues and all that. >.<

Smart Battery Case

• It’s not longer smart!

• After charging all night and unplugging with the case attached to your phone you now must detach the case and reattach in order to get it charge your phone! If you don’t it will drain the internal battery and drive you mad!

• With the case attached it now shows your phone as charging in the battery stats section just as if it was connected to a regular power source!

• In other words the behavior of the smart battery case it now dumb and it doesn’t “just work” like it did before!

Please fix this super annoying bug apple!

Anyone else having issues with slow loading for Apple Maps, Apple Music, and the App Store? Apple Music took 22 seconds to load the listen now tab. Maps has been much slower to load the map as well, and the App Store on launch is stuck on loading for 10 seconds or so. This happens in multiple locations (my home, parents home, coffee shops, and on 5G). I would deduce its not a network connection especially because safari is snappy while those are stuck loading. Anyone else experiencing this?
I've had a possibly related issue since updating to 14.6...

It's the Apple Music app. Super-slow for screens to update in response to input. Up to 3 seconds, it feels like. And it pauses the audio every 3 seconds for about half a second streaming my local radio station. When my iPhone enters this state, some other apps seem to be similarly affected: chiefly, MyFitnessPal. Not all apps are, though. Only way I've found to fix this is to reboot the phone. Seems to occur once every few days.. (It's occurred twice since I updated my iPhone, and I see 14.6 only went GA on 5/24, or 8 days ago...).

I haven’t experienced any battery issues on my 12pm, solid performance as well.
I do get some disconnects from car bluetooth and YouTube videos still stutter

Battery is worse on my iPhone 12 Pro Max and the Music app is a giant mess. Playlists are out of whack and unable to delete songs without first downloading them.
Then today I noticed a bunch of songs on the Browse tab can’t be added to the Library. Not a strong finish for iOS 14.

You know that the update is bad when it even hits the "news" about bad battery ...

Agree, feels like I’ve gone back to using my xs max 🥺 my 12 pro max battery life was legendary on 14.4, after that 🤦‍♂️🥴

Big Sur 11.4 gave me back my legendary battery life on my M1 Mac, hopefully apple can get their act together and do the same thing with iOS/ipadOS.

For sure, it is definitely crazy that such a large volume of customers are having this issue that has been ongoing for this long. I wish I could provide insight or suggestions to alleviate the issue but I think most people are stuck.

I did however see from @Pearslikethefruit that mentioned that if you disable a majority of the system location service options, the battery life is better. What I can't advise is how widespread the difference will be but worth a shot if you are willing to mess around with the settings.

Shouldn’t have to do this, this is the kind of crap you do on android phones lol, it took them 3-4 month to fix my M1 Mac battery issues with the big sur 11.4 update, hopefully a update is just around the corner 😊

I totally agree with you there but at the same time, for those in the situation of bad performance, it might pay to tweak the settings until a fix is released. Your battery will probably thank you as well. Having a faster drain usually directly translates to more frequent charging, which would hit the overall battery health harder. Just food for thought.

Well there you go then, Android and Apple are both as crap as each other! It was inevitable!
Don’t think anything can be as bad as crapdroid, it’s that bad, apple can leave iOS how it is for 10 years and android will still be terrible. 🤦‍♂️😂

Have you heard apparently google makes software for tablets? 🤔 it’s looked like a blown up mobile OS for the last 10 years. 😂😂

I saw the article and came here. I have 14.6 ready to update and I guess I'll wait a while. I already updated on my iPad Mini and haven't really noticed anything different on it.

Does anyone have the problem with Office (word, excel, ppt...) app crashing on ios 14.6? When I am opening word files from the recent tab, it just freezing and crashing hole the app. Does Microsoft app have any problems? iP 12 Pro Max.
