My update keeps hanging at “preparing update,” about 3/4 the way through. I’ve tried it 3 times now. Any suggestions?

System haptics will not turn off, despite toggling them off in system settings. A reboot does not fix the issue.

Edit: fixed the issue by going to settings>accessibility>touch and turning vibration off. I’ve never had to do that on any other release to disable system haptics.

Don’t interrupt it. It’ll finish in its own eventually. Preparing update is notoriously slow.

Any sources on that bud? Personally I have only noticed the stopping at 80% when wireless charging and it is off and on, sometimes it is at 96% when I wake up, other times it is only 80%. Over the cable, it seems just fine.

Everything I have seen has been just security changes, no bug fixes or feature changes
It always stops at 80% and schedules to continue charging after 5:30 am or whatever. That’s what mine shows. Also you should reboot your iPhone often as that will fix a lot of things including the battery percentage. If yours shows 96% after charging, reboot and it will show 100%. Most people don’t ever reboot their iPhone… I reboot often, it’s a computer, on 24/7. Reboot helps a lot.

@Banglazed Malaysia Maxis carrier version is 46.0 PNG image.png

no it can see everything anything.. its done by sending an image via a message like text..and if you dont cick on the image but simply display it you are hacked as far as i understand..

Great. I just installed the update (iPad Air 2020) and now screen brightness is off. I always have my iPad in dark mode and manually had the slider set at 25-30% max. Now at 30% it’s way way too dark. I need almost 100% to get the same brightness I had at 30% before the update. I am not happy with this. Is there a way to get back to the previous version?

Updated yesterday. Having trouble with the toolbar in messages, not responding at all. No way to post a photo, use Memoji etc.

Yes, you have to enter DFU mode and restore from a computer. Hopefully you have a backup from before the update.

I have already tried to restart the phone. I think my issue is either inconsistency, or that the phone is getting hot during charging and reserving. I usually get up at the same time each morning(Except weekends). If I sleep in more, it seems better, for some reason. Oh well. haha.

Hmmm, no. I do still have 14.7 on the iPhone. Could I do something with that?

Or maybe Apple still has not “unsigned” the previous version yet and it can be downloaded from some place?

Having 14.7 on your iPhone has nothing to do with your iPad.

You have to enter DFU mode on the iPad and download 14.7.1 from Apple and restore it through iTunes. That's the only way. They haven't stopped signing it yet.

Well you can try this, this has worked for me in the past. What I did before was after a software update or a charge cycle I would let my phone charge to 100% and then let it drain completely to near 0% and then charge it to 100% without any interruptions, without unplugging it and doing a hard reset on the phone after it’s fully charged. That always helped with battery drain and other performance issues. So give that a try see if it changes anything.

A little update to the above. Before reverting back to 14.7.1 I decided to restart the iPad. And that seems to have fixed the issue. I’m happy again.

Nice.

Now everyone using iOS 14.8 please report any issue with (receiving) cell or WiFi calls, or battery drain, or whatever. I need to be sure this update is reliable enough to make the jump from 14.4.2

Big issues with the 14.7.1/14.8 update on an iphone Xs max:

  • audio and video not working, on youtube even the ads do not roll, own videos in gallery don’t play, all social media app videos not rolling
  • mic not working
  • speakers on phone not working
  • sluggy and slow phone
does anyone else have this issue?

This does not bode well

My wife's iPhone updated itself to iOS 14.8 despite the fact I turned off even automatic downloads, much less updates, on all our iOS/iPadOS devices a couple weeks ago. I just verified: It's now running iOS 14.8 and automatic download is turned off.
It happened to me in the past and I know how upsetting it is.
Appletv also does it and Watch is always downloading it without installing but pestering you to update and of course:
EVERYTHING is set to DO NOT UPDATE

I understand very well your 🤬
