Don’t interrupt it. It’ll finish in its own eventually. Preparing update is notoriously slow.My update keeps hanging at “preparing update,” about 3/4 the way through. I’ve tried it 3 times now. Any suggestions?
It always stops at 80% and schedules to continue charging after 5:30 am or whatever. That’s what mine shows. Also you should reboot your iPhone often as that will fix a lot of things including the battery percentage. If yours shows 96% after charging, reboot and it will show 100%. Most people don’t ever reboot their iPhone… I reboot often, it’s a computer, on 24/7. Reboot helps a lot.Any sources on that bud? Personally I have only noticed the stopping at 80% when wireless charging and it is off and on, sometimes it is at 96% when I wake up, other times it is only 80%. Over the cable, it seems just fine.
Everything I have seen has been just security changes, no bug fixes or feature changes
Yes, you have to enter DFU mode and restore from a computer. Hopefully you have a backup from before the update.Great. I just installed the update (iPad Air 2020) and now screen brightness is off. I always have my iPad in dark mode and manually had the slider set at 25-30% max. Now at 30% it’s way way too dark. I need almost 100% to get the same brightness I had at 30% before the update. I am not happy with this. Is there a way to get back to the previous version?
I have already tried to restart the phone. I think my issue is either inconsistency, or that the phone is getting hot during charging and reserving. I usually get up at the same time each morning(Except weekends). If I sleep in more, it seems better, for some reason. Hmmm, no. I do still have 14.7 on the iPhone. Could I do something with that?Yes, you have to enter DFU mode and restore from a computer. Hopefully you have a backup from before the update.
Having 14.7 on your iPhone has nothing to do with your iPad.Hmmm, no. I do still have 14.7 on the iPhone. Could I do something with that?
Or maybe Apple still has not “unsigned” the previous version yet and it can be downloaded from some place?
Thank you! I can’t find it on the Apple site. Help?Having 14.7 on your iPhone has nothing to do with your iPad.
You have to enter DFU mode on the iPad and download 14.7.1 from Apple and restore it through iTunes. That's the only way. They haven't stopped signing it yet.
Well you can try this, this has worked for me in the past. What I did before was after a software update or a charge cycle I would let my phone charge to 100% and then let it drain completely to near 0% and then charge it to 100% without any interruptions, without unplugging it and doing a hard reset on the phone after it’s fully charged. That always helped with battery drain and other performance issues. So give that a try see if it changes anything.I have already tried to restart the phone. A little update to the above. Before reverting back to 14.7.1 I decided to restart the iPad. And that seems to have fixed the issue. I’m happy again.Great. You know, the old classic “turn it off and restart”A little update to the above. Before reverting back to 14.7.1 I decided to restart the iPad. And that seems to have fixed the issue. I’m happy again.
I don't know if it does any good, but, after one time doing an upgrade, having the iThing misbehaving, and the misbehavior stopping after a reboot, I always reboot after an update. You know, the old classic “turn it off and restart”
First time having a problem after updating ios, so I didn’t think to reboot. Lesson learned.I don't know if it does any good, but, after one time doing an upgrade, having the iThing misbehaving, and the misbehavior stopping after a reboot, I always reboot after an update.
It happened to me in the past and I know how upsetting it is.This does not bode wellMy wife's iPhone updated itself to iOS 14.8 despite the fact I turned off even automatic downloads, much less updates, on all our iOS/iPadOS devices a couple weeks ago. I just verified: It's now running iOS 14.8 and automatic download is turned off.![]()
