My screen went black as if the phone was dead at 46% took a while of clicking the awake button for the screen to come back on again. Never seen this before 14.8

Nice.

Now everyone using iOS 14.8 please report any issue with (receiving) cell or WiFi calls, or battery drain, or whatever. I need to be sure this update is reliable enough to make the jump from 14.4.2
14.4.2 WOW! Good for you
Agree : please let us know if we are jumping on the right wagon or down a bridge

If I have to be honest, 14.4.2 is very good. I suspected that, with all the new features coming with 14.5, they could break something... So I stayed there on ALL my devices (2 iPads on home, 1 iPhone).

However, for some strange force, I need to want to update all my devices to the last iOS 14 build...

Hi, I just updated my iPhone from iOS 14.7.1 to 14.8 and as soon as it reboot, I've received the message: no service. Now I'm trying to fix it with iTunes, anyone had this issue?

Any sources on that bud? Personally I have only noticed the stopping at 80% when wireless charging and it is off and on, sometimes it is at 96% when I wake up, other times it is only 80%. Over the cable, it seems just fine.

Everything I have seen has been just security changes, no bug fixes or feature changes

Same here... charging over cable it has been fine for a while now. Charging overnight is controlled evenly right up to the time I have to get up. I've irregular working hours and yet charging seems to follow my sleeping pattern closely.

Everyone experiencing drops on Cellular or WiFi, or calls not entering, could you test if the issue is now gone with 14.8? I REALLY want to update...

Haven't had that on 14.7.x and before. Drops on cellular and calls is usually a problem of the network, not the phone. In my region T-Mobile has a patent on dropping connections. Even my Nokia dropped calls often with full signal on their network - on time every 60 seconds.

I reverted to 14.7.1 after seeing that incoming emails show up, but when entering the app there is nothing... Force close mail app, then reopen and there it is. I tried resetting all accounts and such, but nothing worked.

Plus battery consumption on my XS didn’t seem right to me, though it wasn’t time enough to judge.

It is quite fluid besides this mentioned things.

Hi, I took a leap of faith and jumped from 14.4.2 to 14.8, on my iPhone 12 pro. So far so good, no changes in battery life or standby drain. I've also noticed that after the update, my network settings switched from 4G-4G to 4G-5G, so I changed it back to what it was. Make sure that you double check this setting, since it may mess up with your battery life.
Cheers

It's working fine for me. Might have even gotten better wrt updating the icon status when email is read from elsewhere.

That was one of my main beefs with iOS' Mail app: The icon would display N number of unread emails and take forever-in-a-day to change that to reflect they'd been read--or even deleted or re-filed. That seems to be better now.

I haven't been able to judge that yet. My first full day with 14.8 involved a lot (for me) of phone time. I might have a better idea after today.

It is quite fluid besides this mentioned things.
Haven't used either my phone or tablet enough, so far, to tell.

It does feel like the battery has just taken a hit with 14.8
Give it a few days, then see if the drain is still ongoing. It is not uncommon for the battery to look worse right after an update. Either because the user is using the phone more than usual, or that the indexing is running. If it is still bad after 2-3 days, then you will know.

Have they fixed the bug with music app. When I shuffle play all my songs. I don’t have Apple Music. It would sometimes stop playing music and pause or it would start playing the songs from the beginning of the shuffle..

Anyone makes a clean install ? I am planning to stay on 14.8 a period of time and new i am on 14.7. Did you guys think for better Performance and battery to make a clean install ?

As far as I know, no, you can’t restore a backup on a previous iOS version. But you can export manually your photos and other data and import them later.

Are you having issues with 14.8?
The phone seems easily getting warm (ie, listening music, reading book). It looked like the phone took more battery than before. I’m not sure this is accurate though I didn’t measure it. But looking at idle time during night sleep the battery is still look good (flat line).
