iOS 14 Beta 1 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

The only thing that catches my eye is the autoplay feature. The other stuff i was hoping for is like a handoff feature. And some other stuff that services like Spotify have. I just have seemed to have accepted the fact that the folks there will not put that much effort into that app as they should. ‍

I’m actually pretty happy with those improvements. Handoff would be nice but not that essential to me compared to filtering in library for example. Autoplay is also really nice. And if the improvements to search are anything similar to Spotify then that would be very nice as well.

So on iPadOS Widgets don't appear to be resizable yet, nor can you intermix them on the icon grid. Smart Stack is already available though.

I’m wondering if that’s coming... but as I watch the Keynote (finally), I notice that they didn’t mention or show that for iPadOS specifically - they just mentioned them being more “data heavy”.

Installed on IPP 11 G2.
First impression: slow. Going to go through and check basics then I'll start adding some new features.

New issues:
Apple Maps: Giving me Siri Suggestions as recently viewed when I have not viewed the suggested locations at all.
Apple Maps: GPS is back to iffy - giving me my location +/- 100yds - on 13.6 is was much tighter
Camera: Photo: touching a location on the screen causes the camera to unfocus/refocus/unfocus/refocus - choppy
Photos: Searchbar is nice - have to use it to get to things like Recently Deleted
Mail: ... sigh ... more later
Files: Items that were "On My iPad" and "iCloud Drive" are missing. Not all of them. See if they reappear later.
Contacts: Groups is cool however I am missing a crap load of contacts. Most of the Contacts listed are old Contacts. The complete list are still on my ProMax (13.5).

Almost certainly the app developers just need to update. In the past when they have changed the widget sdks, the developers had to recompile to take advantage of new features.

Anybody able to get search to work when in an app on iPad? I’m thinking it doesn’t work yet, but they may have been using a gesture that wasn’t advertised.

It seems like that feature is exclusive to keyboard users, but I can’t verify unfortunately.

Not sure. Definitely not better. Biggest issue so far is in 3 Panel mode the left root Panel is missing the names at times.
All the other bugs appear to still be there

Has everyone been installing iOS 14 using the beta profile? Has anyone used the ipsw and installed from their Mac? Work fine with macOS Catalina?

Needs Xcode beta to be installed before updating/restoring to iOS 14 with the ipsw

Using a Logitech Folio on my IPP 11 and search works from the keyboard pretty much anywhere I have tried it.

Unless I'm missing something, I dont see it. I know you can get the emoji keyboard up bit not like Google's where you can type and search for one. Plus on iPad, there's no Apple swipe keyboard. I wish there were.

I really enjoy iOS 14. It feels faster/snappier, i like the widgets being customizable and the App-Mediathek is perfekt for me. Now i just wish i could hide my folders with all those apps and just use App-Mediathek. xD

Update: Sometimes Search via the keyboard drops me right into Safari and searches instead of staying in the app.
Don’t think it is all in there yet.

Thx, didnt see that before and changed it now. Really a nice option to have!

But wait... does this mean, if i deleted all my apps, and downloaded them to the library, i wouldnt have any apps on homescreen anymore? Hmm, i need to test this, and see how i like it.
