That would be a deal breaker. Anyone else seeing this?

Went back to 13.5.1 and no more issue. Haven’t heard of anyone else having it, so it could be just me, but it was definitely a deal breaker. For my job, we do nothing but group text.

Fun while it lasted since everything else was flawless for me. Oh well.

Google hides that behind a YouTube Red/Premium paywall even today in iPad. If you already have that and it's still not working on iPhone, the app will need to be updated. If you don't, don't expect it any time soon.
I have youtube premium so I’ll see honestly when I first saw it months ago “play in the background” I thought it would do pip on iPad like others did before but nope so now is their time to actually do it lol

Ah. Then like @cmaier said Google probably rolled their own video widget, rather than using the stock one and enabling pip_enabled or whatever in the manifest.

It currently works for Netflix, Disney +, anything in safari, Apple TV, and others

Which since it works already in some 3rd party apps - that makes me question youtube and why does it not work - it’s not like Disney updated their app for iOS 14

Youtube PiP does work fine in Safari so hopefully just needs an update.

For AirPods pro users. There’s a noise level meter now you can put in control center.

Don’t know if this is a bug or not. But when I play different playlists on my iPhone. My widget dynamically updates. But my iPad doesn’t dynamically update the widget with the same music.

Basically I would like both widgets to automatically update with the same albums. But it seems now. The only way to do so. Is to play the same music on both devices.

Spotlight search on iPad also just doesn’t properly work - it doesn’t bring up your apps it just brings up websites and other junk

Certainly seems inconsistent for me too. Sometimes apps won't be found until you've actually typed the whole name and it doesn't seem to work at all for fragments of app names when you don't start from the start i.e. searching for "vim" will not find "iVim"

I'm going to update just to see if I can. I'm off tomorrow so the worst is I go back to iOS 13.5.1

Finally got picture in picture to work! I'd read somewhere that you had to swipe up, which is why it wasn't working for me. For anyone wondering, in Safari you need to expand the video and then tap on it and up in the left hand corner there'll be a little icon with an arror.

Then it would be a useless feature as I cant remember the last time I used safari to watch videos.
Hardly “useless”... disappointing, sure. There are many other apps that PiP will support, and there IS the Safari option for YouTube. Google might not open that app to PiP (not sure why Apple allows that on their platform, but whatever) since it’s a bit of a halo feature for Android when showing off “multitasking”.

Still a bit bummed that there’s no true multiple apps “multitasking”... Android still wins here.

Maybe I'm blind but where is the app list view on the ipad? I can't find this on my Air 2 as well as the ability to put widget directly on the home screen ?

Barclays app is not working. It’s flagging it as hail broken. Amazing software engineers work there apparently...

Now there’s an option to export the activity rings as a picture, don’t think it was there before.
I think the issue is it doesn’t know what iOS 14 is, so it thinks it’s a jailbroken app

So far Pip video works flawlessly for Youtube via Safari as well as the native apps for Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ since they are good iOS citizens and used the default Apple video UI.

Another nice new thing for News+ subscribers, the articles are finally in dark mode too, not just the UI! No more blinding myself at night!

I don't have iOS 14 on my phone but I read somewhere there's a setting to "automatically" putting video on PIP or something like that, that way, I think a single swipe up would work. Maybe I'm wrong but it worth checking out.

I'm on YT Premium and can confirm PIP doesn't work... yet.

Sounds like the system is simply misreporting free space.
Mine says 90GB but I thought that's pretty much accurate cause my Netflix uses 60Gb because of my downloaded series lol but after restart, went down to 21Gb.

Is it wrong to run iOS 14 now if your not a developer or even possible ?

Or is it better to wait until July ?

PIP works on HBO Go too and Music Videos on Apple Music.
