I have changed both the home screen background and the lock screen background under both beta 1 and 2. No problem. What are you seeing?

I am having a problem with wallpaper also. When I go to pick one of the new wallpaper options the settings app immediately closes

I’ve noticed on the widget screen you can’t enable jiggle mode if you try pressing and holding below a certain point on the screen.
Seems like a strange design choice given this is all empty space and naturally where somebody might try to enable it to add widgets.
Perhaps it’s a hangover from removing the old Edit button in 13; reported as a suggested improvement in any case.

Anyone found a successful way to change wallpaper?

That is interesting.
Went into Photos, selected a photo, selected Use as Wallpaper - my ProMax immediately locked up.
About 4 minutes later - I did nothing to it - the selection suddenly showed up allowing my to choose Lockscreen or Home Screen.
BUT - it didn’t change the existing wallpaper.

Update: after a reboot I was able to get the change to stick. The freeze and timeout are still occuring.

I get the same locking up trying via Photos or via the wallpaper settings in settings.

Spent a few minutes looking for missing things after updating from 1 to 2.

Just discovered that a significant number of photos are missing. Went from 835 to 512.
I do not iuse iCloud for photos. Yes I have a backup ;). or two.

Device - ProMax

Did the same on my IPP 11.
Seems my “Milk and Mocha” folder is about half as big as it used to be.
I also now have 2 Pinterest folders in Photos. Both have pictures in them. Different pictures.

Biggest IPP concern: I do a lot of photo editing/manipulation on this device. A number of “in play” photos are gone.
I have backups.

I rarely use the stock wallpapers... but I just tried it and was able to pick several of the new iOS 14 stock wallpapers for a lock screen and a home screen without any problem. If it matters, I have an Xs Max.

I’ve noticed that the placement of album folders have changed on iPadOS 14b Beta 2. Initially in Beta 1, there was a spot on the top left column to view Albums, which was great because it was up at the top with everything else I use most. Now the albums have their own section with a folder tree type open/close function. Although, this lines up with the macOS version of Photos in macOS 10.15.5

The ”Other” section in iPhone & iPad Storage is still a known issue (FB7862660: More than 10 reported).

The Large Weather Widget is borked (FB7863412).

I’m now able to select Photos in Messages. If you select the name of the person at the top and then “Info”, scroll down to Photos and select “See All”, there was then an option for “Select” in the top right that then didn’t let you select any photos.. That’s been fixed (FB7840381).

Still Unable to Download Music Offline in the Music App. Doesn’t matter what album, it’ll start downloading and then after a few songs it’ll just stop downloading anything, leaving the spinning circles. A Hard Reboot might let you download one or two more... (FB7862795: More than 10 reported).

I had one on beta 1 and one on beta 2.

And Bluetooth issues?

In beta 1 and 2 my iPhone keeps disconnecting and reconnecting to my Bluetooth speaker. It’s not usable to listen to music.
Sometimes it’s plays for 10m and others it disconnects every minute.

13.5.1 no problems

Went in via the Wallpaper path in Settings and all was well until I actually chose a location.
Now I am sitting watching a “Setting Wallpaper” message.

Update: Interesting ... been playing with it for a bit now selecting different wallpapers from different sources.
Once I did Settings > Wallpaper > Live and waited through the freeze process, the freeze is now gone no matter where I choose a wallpaper from.

On the other hand, has anyone gotten a “Live” wallpaper to work once set?

Why are people spending so much time trying to clear "other" storage? A solution given above was to install loads of apps then delete them. That implies "other" is freed up when you need it, right? So, just ignore it and it won't impact you.

Or are people actually running out of space and getting errors? if so, I take it all back :)
I have seen at least one instance where an error was reported. I am right up against it myself and the system is removing apps on its own, which is annoying. Also, the report solution appears to be just temporary, with the "other" space filling right back up over time.

Hmmm ... I'll keep playing with it and see if I can get it to fail.

These betas are quite interesting in that multiple people get different results from trying the same action. I mean, we are, after all, in a walled garden, aren't we? I suppose that there are a number of options in settings that could make things respond differently, depending on what one is attempting to do... The only recourse is to report these issues to Apple, along with the requisite logs, etc that are gathered by the Feedback app and hope Apple can sort it out.

We might be running the same beta build, but there’s different .ipsw files for each device. Not to mention the totally random apps that everyone could be using in conjunction with their stock apps and a bunch of extremely popular apps that we all have installed... SOOO many variables. People think it’s so easy.. see bug fix bug bug fixed

Yes they work fine for me. But remember, "live" wallpapers can only be triggered on the lock screen, not home screen.

So, to sum up, more problems than Beta 1?
That's usually the way it goes for the first few betas, because the builds focus on different areas each time, so not all the bug fixes from the previous versions make it directly into the next one. They will improve as we go through the summer.

I only run Betas during this season of the year, so I usually forget these type of things, all I really remember from last years iOS 13 betas is the amount of times they crashed the phone, as well as the many bugs

I noticed that in Beta 1 the legacy widgets were slightly larger than the new Widgets. In Beta 2, both widgets are now the same size. Maybe they need to develop something to zoom and crop the legacy widgets to make way for a way to just use all the widgets in the today view mixed together. This would explain the current rather un-Apple like schizophrenic implementation.

I figure Apple is working Agile using some form of CI/CD. I feel, the current implementation is just an in between way of tying the knots together until all features are implemented.

Mine was at @28gb immediately after the update. After a reboot it dropped to 21gb and seems to be fluctuating... gonna let it run for a while and check later...
I went from the latest 13.x beta to 14b2, this is the difference. 5.03gb to 65.23gb. Will see if it settles throughout the day or after a few reboots.

It most likely will not sort itself out and there’s most likely nothing any of us can do on our own to “fix” this other than a restore... my “Other” section has slowly been growing in size and is now over 134GB. Apple is aware and working on it.

I’m also finding that I’m unable to add any image attachments in these forums when I post from my iPhone. I’m able to edit the post and add them on my iPad, though. My iPhone looks like it’s uploading the image attachment, and then it gets crossed out. Weird.
