Think I'm done trying out ios 14 beta and considering returning to 13 for now.

I made a backup of 13.5.1 on my Mac before installing ios 14. Not sure if I restore this backup, now that 13.5.1 is not being signed any longer?

Procedure I think then would be :

- install 13.6
- restore backup

Correct?

Has anyone having problems with protected notes?

Mine keeps asking me for the password instead off FaceID

Yes. Seeing it both on iPadOS and iOS. iOS will do one or the other. iPadOS I have only seen password.
Have reported via Feedback.

Ref the weather widget: It may partially be a location issue as since I changed the weather app to use my address instead of 'My Location' I've not had the issue with it not updating since. I'll continue to monitor.

I’ve done this as well, and it might update at that time. But this seems to only be temporary. I noticed that the Clock Widget does the same thing.. After X amount of time it just stops updating. I removed the Clock Widget because I was worried that my alarm might not go off lol

Field Test Siri Shortcut

Is this what you're looking for?

You need an Intel modem iPhone 8 to access it. The model number would be A1905 for the 8 and A1897 for the 8 Plus.

Yes! Thanks for the Shortcut!

And no, FTM is working on my Wife’s Verizon iPhone 8+

Works on my iPad Pro! Cool?

Adding the weather widget to my iPad Pro causes it to respring, the weather widget isn’t there once it re springs.

Anyone else having this issue?

I have the iPad mini 5 and I could swear when I first installed the first Public Beta I was able to install a weather widget. But didn't keep it because there was no weather app to open and it always sent me to the Weather.com webpage. But now I don't even see the option to install the weather widget. (Anyway Yahoo weather widget works fine after the last PB release.)

Got this on my 6th gen iPad and definitely not as smooth. Just watching Netflix and browsing on safari causes a lot of stuttering on the videos. Also when I went and downloaded some episodes, two of the 5 screwed up during playback part way through, like part of the file was corrupt. Never had that issue before

so far not the biggest fan of this

if I just remove the beta profile, will I revert back to 13.6?

My iPhone 7 is stuck on accepting the terms and conditions. Won’t allow me up update from beta 1

Hi, anyone knows workaround to retrieve iMessage from the iCloud? I've clean install and do backups from the iCloud but seems unable to download my messages from the iCloud. Thanks.

Nope, need to restore via a pc or mac in dfu mode.

when did you install iOS 14? Maybe it’s still indexing give it a few days.
Had it on for a few days now. Not urgent to switch back, I left my phone on the latest iOS 13.

I’ll give it to the next official iOS 13 release to see if it is just indexing still but so far haven’t been impressed. Feels like it’s more resource heavy if I can’t simply surf the web and watch Netflix on my 2gb ram device.

Go to Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Make sure the iMessage setting is ticked on.

I keep having this annoying bug where I see the Carrier Settings Update Pop-Up over and over again. It either is not updating correctly or it's updating but bugging out. Either way it's only mildly annoying and doesn't pop up very often if I stay out of the About screen in Settings.

So Beta 2 was much more smoother than Beta 3. iPhone 7 is hanging and lagging a lot with beta 3. Anybody else?

One weird thing I noticed this morning was when I went to edit one of my alarms to remove some of the days, the current time was in the time instead of the time it was already set for. Need to test later if it would have actually changed the time it I left it alone. I just changed it back to the correct time.

If you restored your iCloud backup and Messages in iCloud (Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Messages) is enabled, it’s a bug. If you haven’t restored a backup, your messages will not be downloaded because your clean install will have a separate encryption key that can’t decrypt your messages from iCloud. Restoring from a backup brings back your old encryption key, which allows you to redownload your messages.

As I know, the messages used to get downloaded from iCloud even after a clean install on earlier versions of iOS. This issue has cropped up only recently.
Hence this seems to be a bug and not an expected behaviour. Now whether its a bug on iCloud servers or the iOS itself- I don't know for sure.

This problem has cropped up recently.
Messages were not syncing on my iPhone and macBook even before a clean install. In fact, clean install was done as a possible troubleshooting step to resolve the syncing problem.
But the messages didnt sync even after a clean install.

You sure about that? If iCloud message syncing is enabled they should come back. And, for example, they did on my clean install of Catalina on my Mac mini.

Edit: unless it’s a bug specific to iOS 14 betas of course.

Been playing some more with Mail on ProMax DB3

Note: It is improving with each iOS14 beta so far 🤞

1 account in GMail app
3 accounts in Mail (including the same as in GMail app)

  • See badge in GMail and almost always see a badge in Mail
  • Reading the email in GMail, the badge in Mail will update usually within 5 minutes
    • - instances where the badge in Mail does not update, email read in GMail still shows as unread in Mail.
      • - - I can actually access that email in Mail as unread - no actual effect on GMail
      • - - A manual refresh does not always update this issue.
  • I am seeing a frequent badge mismatch in the GMail app even though GMail in Safari is correct. Just the badge amount is incorrect.
  • Approx 1/3 of the time I have to manually refresh Mail to get it to match the badge count which is usually accurate.
  • Have had a few, infrequent, emails read in another app or on another device and deleted (trash) show up in Mail as an unread email

That should work. The issue comes when you try to apply a back up from a later version to an earlier one.
