iOS 14 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

So the one thing I've noticed that's bugging me so far about iOS 14 is that when I long press the Google Maps icon, it no longer brings up my saved "Home" and "Work" options to choose from the mini-widget that you could get from a long press.

Other Day 1 observations:

There's too much space on the home screen between the dock of my favourite 4 apps and the bottom row of apps/widgets.

Swiping right to bring up the widgets page is now a weird hodgepodge of Apple's new widget format and my previous widgets, which are now all grouped together in a bundle underneath the Apple widgets.

Can you guys login to apple account with mobile number without country code. I was able to login in with Beta 9 but not with GM build. It says invalid apple ID

The GM is same as Beta 8 is that right? since I updated everything runs much smoother, assume this is because there is no debugging in background?

Anyone else experiencing an issue where the icons on the home screen are different sizes? Some are smaller than others including some folders. This is on iPadOS 14 GM on my iPad Pro 4 12.9. I tried rebooting but no fix. Don’t have any issues on my iphone 11 pro.

I have the same issue. Widgets are unusable due to ever changing sizes. Also some icons and folders are changing sizes as well. Rebooting only fixes temporarily. Deleted and re-added all widgets and still no change. I’ve been running the public beta and didn’t notice notice the problem until just the last beta before GM. Ugh

Does itunes support ios 14? Why didn't itunes receive updates. Can I install iOS 14 ipsw file with DFU mode?

It will when IOS 14 is publicly released sometime today. It does not support betas.

I think you need to uninstall the beta profile. Not sure the Dev GM release is any different than what will get released today.

After installing the GM version yesterday, I have erased my iPhone and restored it from backup. Do I need to still uninstall beta profile. I can’t see beta profile anywhere in the settings

If you erased the phone, it removed the beta profile.

Can anyone confirm if 3d touching/long pressing to peek into a video in Photos causes the preview to be distorted?

All the videos I have tried have played normally on my XR.

Shortcuts widget seems unfurnished. Used to be able to change which actions you wanted to see in the widget, but now it only allows all. Here’s to hoping it’s fixed in 14.1 along with a Favorites widget!

You can tell it which folder in Shortcuts you want to display. Move your preferred Shortcuts into a folder, edit the Shortcuts widget and point it at that folder.

Someone said this was by design due to the new automatic switching feature. I am experiencing this pop-up too, but only when using certain music apps like Sirius.

Forgive me if this has been asked already, but will my phone and watch push the newest updates (14/7) over the 13.7 and 6.2.8 that I never downloaded previously? Or will I have to update to 13.7/6.2.8 before being able to get the latest updates?

Settings > Bluetooth > AirPods info > switch from “Automatically” to “When Last Connected to This iPhone.”

Check to make sure Notifications are still enabled for those accounts.

Been running all the DP versions on my Xs Max. Not experiencing many issues along the way. The GM is about as solid ass I’ve seen for a GM.

im the same with my XS Max, it jsut works beta 1-8 only smal issues

Works quite well. I have a few folders (imaginatively called Folder1, Folder2 etc.) and I stack the widgets. I've had to create shortcuts for my frequently-called contacts to make up for the lack of Favourites widget or any options when long-pressing the FaceTime or Phone app icons.

Basically, I have shortcuts called Person's-Name that do the below, and I duplicate it for each contact I want as a "Favourite".

Choose from Menu
-> Video
-> Audio
-> Text

Video
-> FaceTime Call Person

Audio
-> FaceTime Audio Call Person

Text
-> Send "Message" to Person (with toggle "Show when run")

End Menu

Yes, it's working for me between my iPad and iPhone, both running iOS 14 and the latest AirPods 2/Pro FW update. Doesn't look like it's supported on 1st gen AirPods. It's also not working for Big Sur b6 but I didn't expect it to. Maybe Big Sur b7 will have it but that hasn't released yet.
