Is there any way to make a clean install of 14.8.1 without the need of IPSW.me? Just with a mac.

And... is it possible to downgrade from iOS 15 now that iOS 14.8.1 is being signed?

Thank you.
I’m curious of this too… I’d like to maybe try 15 but it’d be nice to know if there was a way back.

I’m afraid you can’t without a real 14.8.1 IPSW .
I wonder though if you could restore to a backup you did with 14.8.1 even if you upgrade to iOS 15.
Theoretically the 14.8.1 OTA is still “signed ” by Apple because it’s available on your device.
You could try it on an old device you don’t care and see if it works, without compromising the one you are using.

Nah, it’s ok Kat, provided that iOS 15.2 comes with an interesting privacy feature, and I expect it to be polished enough from the release build, I will update to iOS 15.2 al my devices as soon as it’s available (as long as it doesn’t break many things). But thank you anyways.

Time for some speculation!

After iOS 13 got released, older devices continued to get updates for iOS 12

In 2019, version 12.4.4 got released on December 10
In 2020, version 12.5 got released on December 14

Now it's that time of the year again. I bet we will get 14.8.2 alongside 15.2 with a release next week.

I know iOS 15 is getting pushed to users on 14.8.1 but I don't think iOS 14.8.x updates will stop, but continue until iOS 16 is here.

It is and it's annoying. Now Settings has a constant notification that won't go away

Hope so, because I'm not anxious to switch platforms right at this moment.
Solution. Shortcuts: Open app , choose Settings save it on Home screen
and move the annoying Settings in another distant screen window.
Problem solved

14.8.1 got released on October 26, one day after iOS 15.1

That was on a Tuesday. So, iOS 14.8.2 tomorrow?? [confused math lady.gif]

Hmmm. I wonder if 14.8.1 was the first and last security update for iOS 14?
Kind of beginning to look that way, isn't it?

Would it kill Apple to publish a support timeline? Microsoft seems able to do so!

I'd love to know if there are any more iOS 12 updates.. or iOS 14 updates... Or when Mojave support was going to be dropped (it was dropped earlier than usual).
