I thought the mask unlock thing would also work with my iPad Pro. I own an Apple Watch, so I was covered on that front.

But I work all day around people wearing a mask and have to unlock my iPad Pro at least 20 times a day. I would’ve loved being able to unlock it with my face.
Is it an M1 iPad Pro? It currently seems to be exclusive to that model.

Wallet cannot be accessed while not unlocked, even if the setting is selected.
Face ID now is requiring only the first step to activate.
Unlocking wearing a mask activation results in failing to activate Face ID error, but Face ID still works without a mask. The setting cannot be enabled. iPhone 12

It is easier than one might assume. You just have to scan the QR Code of your certificate with the camera app. HOWEVER it does not let me add the German certificate to the wallet app. It says „not a verified entry“.

Also the wording for Moderna for example is weird. No one calls the vaccines by those names

Thanks! But I’m not having luck. My iPad is an M1 iPad Pro 11 and it doesn’t show the option. I’ve tried restarting it with no results.

Any idea what could it be?

Not included on the iPads as far as I can see. I have the M1 12.9 iPP and it is not there. I’ve taken my phone off the betas so I can’t speak to whether it was included on the phones.

Cannot confirm. 12Pro here. Works perfect

Thanks.

It is on the phones and it works pretty well.

I didn’t think it was a big deal because I own an Apple watch. But this also works with bank apps and any app that uses Face ID, while the watch doesn’t. So it will be a big improvement in my day to day use.

Edit: It works with my password manager. Awesome. This is a game changer.

Agreed, but I doubt something as low effort as new ringtones or wallpapers will make the OS unstable. iOS 15 is essentially a more polished iOS 14, yet it wasn’t really refined until now.

Apple hasn’t really been doing much, and it shows.
Adding FaceID with mask is not trivial, if it were it would have been out long ago.

Also.. universal control is here, keyboard brightness for iPad and lots more…

Yep. I found this on the Verge -
Update, January 27th 4:19PM ET: Added information about the feature reportedly only being available on the iPhone 12 and 13.

I think the article I read was just incorrect. It specifically mentioned M1 iPads but it doesn't work on any of them and seems to have been edited out.

I’m testing Universal Control right now. I use Sidecar A LOT because when I’m away from my big screen sometimes my Macbook Air screen feels a little bit cramped.

UC is really, really fluid. No lag at all, it feels just like Sidecar. Much better than I expected, particularly in a first beta.

Reachability is 120 Hz now and the album thumbnail blurring in Photos seems better (but still present). When combined with the PDF scrolling fix, feels like what iOS 15.1 should have been for the 13 series.

Field test got updated as well. I’m digging this update

Edit: apps seem 120 Hz as well, like Apollo.. hmmmm…

OTA update from 15.3 RC. So far working okay but Safari is freakin slow!
Going through all the apps to see what works and what doesn't.
Safari very fast here, but I have an M1 iPP. Usually some minor sluggishness with a big new update but hasn’t affected Safari. Also did OTA as usual.

I see downloading OTA is back to wi-fi only on my IP13PM. Was reintroduced (that I saw) with the release of 15.3 public.....and now with this beta also. A pain in the proverbial when you have full bars of 5G UC (T-Mobile US)....and can get around 600Mb from where I am now. Oh well, I know, it's a beta...
Maybe carrier imposed? I am on the T-Mobile MAX plan which is supposed to never de-prioritize, but I guess they can control this?
Anyone else see the limitation OTA on wi-fi only?

I was able to upgrade from 15.3 public to 15.4b1 via AT&T 5G earlier today.
