Because Apple cares about selling products and services. The last couple of years have been really bad with software bugs across ALL DEVICES. The more complicated they make stuff the more chances for bugs especially when everything is done in the cloud.
I agree. But Apple Music is a service, so it makes sense to put even extra efforts to make the app good… especially when you have competition like Spotify.

If got this Safari issue ever since updating my iPad Pro to 15.4. I haven’t been participating in the 15.4 betas, so I don’t know whether this has been reported before, but searching the forum hasn’t turned up anything.

I often use “open in background” when reading through a page, most commonly on forum sites. The new link would open in a new tab in the background, while I continue reading the page I’m on. Nothing new, core functionality.

As of 15.4, often (I’d say at least 2 out of 5 times, sometimes more) the new tab would be created with the correct title but shortly after (1-2 seconds) revert to the Safari start page, which is about:blank in my case. This happens on multiple unrelated sites and is apparently not due to website issues. The links will usually open correctly after another try or two.

Has anyone else encountered this in 15.4?

What makes sense to us doesn’t matter to Apple. I just miss the days when Apple used to bust their asses trying to be the best because they were the underdog. Now they are a behemoth equivalent to what Microsoft was in the 90s. People are so entrenched in the ecosystem that its very difficult to leave without a massive effort especially for the average person. Apple does JUST enough to be decent. But its becoming death by 1000 cuts.

By way of an example, I went to the Macrumors iOS15 page and used “open in background” (cmd-click on the magic keyboard) on the first three threads listed there. Two of them loaded as expected, the third gave me the blank start page. If you look closely, the correct URL is shown in the location bar, but the tab title says Start Page. Reloading the page via the reload button, cmd-R or option-cmd-R does nothing whatsoever. The only way forward is to close that tab and try again.

Edit to update: when I click the URL in the location bar of the dodgy tab to highlight it and then press enter, the page loads. It’s really jarring and drives me nuts.

That is identical to something I posted above, accept in my case its clicking a google search link that then reverts back to the search page I clicked the link from. Mine only happens when Im in a tab group. Outside of the groups its fine.

I tested what your issue is just now and it did exactly the stupid thing you said it did.

Not seeing this on my iPad Pro ruining 15.4.

Clear your safari history or web site data, reboot your iPad and see how you go.

This is a bug in tab groups….I see you are using one called ”mac”. If you get out of that and use the standard methods outside tab groups everything is fine. I guarantee every single person who tries this on an iPad tab group will have the same issue. Another stupid bug in tab groups is go and try and download anything to files.….you’ll get the dialogue box pop up twice. FUN!

Hah, I noticed that, too! Ended up with a few duplicate downloads in Files…
These latest bugs still don’t top the iOS 13 one on iPad where safari had a massive memory leak that would barely keep a single tab loaded at a time before refreshing. Thankfully that one was fixed in a week. These might never be fixed since not everyone uses tab groups (even though it was a hallmark “feature” of the safari update)

I also noticed that when this glitch happens the back button Disappears too

It’s stuck around this time. ?

Normally I’d close the YouTube app, then the next time I’d open it, it’ll be gone.

Don’t you dare get rid of it google.

She’s cruising in first gear.

How’s the battery life on your 13 PM? Thinking of changing to the Alpine Green 13 Pro tomorrow but wondering if the battery life would be good. Since the Pro has a smaller battery than the regular 13.

Can’t complain when it comes to battery life on the big boy, been great since day one, can easily hit 10-12 hours usage on WiFi.

I wouldn’t bother upgrading from a 13 to 13 Pro at this stage, ProMotion is amazing, you won’t notice a difference in battery life unless you get the Pro Max.

I’d wait till September for the 14 series, not long to go now.

I think I would not pay attention to the minute by minute fluctuations in this number. Unless you start having trouble loading new apps or downloading media or the like, I don’t think it’s meaningful.
It's not significant until a certain point, because I don't want apple to fill my garbage space, because that's what it does. Because with the nonsense, this is occupying more and more, without any control. And the worst of all is that before restoring this it was solved, but he doesn't do it anymore. You restore, and after a few hours it is already firing, because you can see that it is programmed to fill your free space with garbage, so if you have a 64Gb mobile, it is a little help for you to make the jump to the new 128Gb models. Apps also appear and disappear from the storage usage list or add and remove space from an app. It's not going well in this regard.

Although the 13 Pro (3,095 mAh) has a smaller battery than the iPhone 13 (3,227 mAh), the iPhone Pro Max that you are inquiring about has a considerably larger battery (4,352 mAh).

Battery life is superb on the 13PM.
