Why is this affecting only some users. That part is a head scratcher.
Well, not really I think.
Bugs which affect everyone are easy to reproduce and fix, therefore they are far more likely to be detected an eliminated during QA cycles.
Bugs which only occur under certain circumstances and configurations are difficult to be confirmed and troubleshooted, so of course this is the nature of most of these annoying ones we experience.

This is the reason why an argument like „this bug doesn’t occur on my similar system, so it can’t be there on yours“ - which is quite common also in these forums here - is illogical, not rational and wrong.

Back to discussion in this forum around ipsw update/upgrade few weeks ago, I think the clean approach - which is restore (not update) via ipsw, can avoid lots of small-but-annoying bugs (even though it needs extra time vs directly update). There are obviously, some (or many) of us that are just running update straightforward (via OTA or ipsw file) with no issues at all, but it‘s like lottery game.
I might be wrong, but in my case, I have tried this on my iPhone and iPad (2 times each, on 15.3.1 and 15.4) and didn’t find any issues so far (eg. battery usage during sleep, heat, system storage, scrolling, bluetooth, etc).

Seems like you might be onto something here. ? Too much work for me though. ?

i‘ll stick with my lazy OTA updates lol. ?

Thanks. Just noticed that no tabs are showing across my iPad and iPhone.

Restarted both but no joy of course. You are right, it would seem that Apple have really screwed the pooch on yet something else here.

Edit: I don’t get frequently visited on either device either!
Regarding iCloud tabs, I’ve had it happen a couple of times since iOS15.1 and iPadOS15.1. I found that completely closing Safari from the app switcher on both devices brings them back when Safari is next opened on both devices.

Wouldn’t doing a Recovery Mode Restore do the same thing as a restore via ipsw (DU). Both require downloading the ipsw, both erase the entire contents of the phone and both restore the entire OS.

?

OTA, IPSW, recovery mode restore. ?

Getting more complicated by the second.

I’m out, jumping ship to android.

For sure, you didn’t do anything wrong with that. I just skim various issues raised in this forum, and think that maybe the problem is not the iOS software itself but the update process.

Absolutely, no harm in giving people more options, the more options the better, it could end up helping someone.

It’s not that hassle, here are steps I did:
  1. Download the ipsw file via browser. In parallel, backup the iPhone/iPad to the Mac.
  2. In Finder, option-click ”Restore” (not “Update”) to select the downloaded ipsw file. Wait 5 minutes to complete the process. No need to go to recovery mode / erase all contents first, etc.
  3. After finished, system will ask for restore/start as new; select restore from backup. In my case this will take another 5-10 minutes depend on backup size. Let the phone download rest of apps.
Suggested to run these whole processes at night, so it will finish the next morning

I have just noticed a bug.

I upload pics to FB by scrolling through my camera roll and selecting a pic and uploading it to a relevant group. I’ve been doing this for years but recently realised I wasn’t getting any likes, when I look in the groups my pics aren’t there.

If I am in the FB app I can make a post, select a pic and it uploads with no problem.

I have had the same problem with videos for a long time (years) but it is only since 15.4 that I have had the problem with pictures.

Has anyone else had the same issue? Has anyone found a solution?

Thanks

These are the steps I do:
  1. Connect my 13 Pro Max to my Mac computer via Lightning cable.
  2. Do an encrypted backup via Finder.
  3. Restart phone in Recover Mode while leaving it connected to the computer.
  4. Select Restore. Finder downloads the latest version of iOS to the computer
  5. When download is completed, Finder erases the entire contents of the phone and iOS is installed to the phone.
  6. After finished, phone restarts. Select restore from backup, select backup from computer.
  7. Backup restored, apps are re-download. Takes 30 or so mins for the backup to compete.

Thanks but no joy. Already done that, and disabled and re-enabled the function, and restarted all devices. Just doesn’t work for me.
