“Hey Siri, give me my update”

Tells me the weather, my meeting schedule and then, “Here’s the latest News…” at which point, you can give it a choice of news outlets to play. I use Apple News.

But it just stops and doesn’t start the news portion.

Siri says: “Moz…there’s no good news, so why don’t I just stop right here”.

Cool, thanks for this! When it gets to the News section it starts playing a podcast with the latest newspaper articles (this is not a podcast I have in my library).

A touch off topic, but battery related...

... Cool idea Apple, but what a hassle!
Worth just letting Apple do it. And its cheaper 😄

If anyone wonders why Apple very explicitly says that betas should only be used on devices intended for beta testing, I submit the following from the 15.5 b4 Release Notes as Exhibit A:

I did try it and the countdown timer did start. I’m not about to let it finish and make the call, however, as I really don’t want the local police to stop by to see what’s going on if I hang up. So I really don’t know if it’s working or not.

Fingers crossed no one needs it before the issue is resolved.

And that is precisely the point. Apple gets dinged by the right-to-repair activists for the iPhones’ lack of self-repairability, so this is their response: you can fix your device yourself. But you won’t want to…

It should not.
I recently cleaned out one (not mine) and deleting emails (including attachments). All of the photos in Google Photos and on the G-Drive were not affected.
Cheers. Thanks for that response. Appreciated

So, all in all, you’d say iOS 15.5 is pretty rounded up? No apparent issues? Everything is smooth sailing?

I’m asking because my new iPhone 13 mini is on 15.4 and I’m not sure if I should update to 15.4.1 and see how things go for 15.5, or wait a week or two and update straight to 15.5. Same for my iPad, it’s on 15.3, and I don’t know if I should update to 15.4.1 or jump straight to 15.5

I like to perform as few updates as possible.

EDIT: grammar

The only issue I’m having is the modem update on the latest beta sucks for my 13PM. Doesn’t get as strong as a signal as before. Especially indoors.

I just randomly received this Pop Up when I opened the App Store. It’s also in the wrong language. Should be in German, just like the button below. Never seen it before
App Store notifications? KILL THEM WITH FIRE.

(Seriously, though, I actually turned App Store notifications off entirely after I started getting spammed with random app/game promos and other stuff I could not care less about; I check for updates manually now.)

Been doing that for a while now for Apple apps. After each update check as I have had the update occasionally turn them back on.

But this depends on the phone company right? I mean, if you’re in the USA and I’m in Europe, with different telecoms, your issue shouldn’t necessarily affect me.

Anyways, I’ve thought that the best I can do is to update and set up my new phone on 15.4.1, as I’ve seen a bit of battery drain on 15.4, and wait patiently for 15.5 and see if it causes some troubles after the public release. If not, then update again (or wait for 15.5.1)

It's a known issue since the 15.4 betas. Pretty much all of the 15.5 known issues are issues that were introduced over the last few minor releases.

This is new. If you aren't connected to the internet, the weather app will tell you instead of just showing the latest conditions. I think you should still be able to see the 10 day forecast though.

Have you tried to open the app with internet connection, then entering Airplane mode, shutting down WiFi, then finally opening the app again?

I’m asking because I just tried to enter in Airplane mode, open the Weather app for the first time in many days, and I get that same screen. On iOS 15.4. Then after turning on WiFi, I open the weather app, and after getting the latest forecast, I enter Airplane mode and I’m still able to see it on the app.
