Do you see an improvement after the reinstall? Your previous screenshot shows idle battery drain around 50% so could you post the results around the same?
Battery drain tends to be flat when it’s close to 100% so this may not be an accurate observation.

Battery drain in periods of non use much better. Even after 50% of discharge. 4% last night compared to 12% on the original install.

15.5 broke showing Album art for Spotify in my Audi car via bluetooth (not Car Play). Worked so perfect so far. update: broke also album art for BBC radio app also, so i think it is an iOS bug rather than a Spotify issue.

Update: a restart has fixed the issue!

Update 2: after a few songs problem is back!

If it’s not your carrier and your sure it’s not your hardware, have you dropped the phone recently?… try some software trouble shooting.

1. Reinstall just the iOS.
• Download the IPSW file
• Do an encrypted backup to computer.
• Use finder, hold alt, press “check for update” button and select the IPSW file
and Install. No data is touched. Just the iOS reinstalls.

If that didn’t work…

2. Restore
• Erase all content And settings from settings

This will reset your phone temporarily like a new device, check to see if you have any 5G signal out of interest?

• Then plug your phone in and in finder select the restore button - you have the back up to use you made earlier.
• let the phone restore and then select your encrypted back up.

These are the things I try and normally it fixes the issues.

If your still dead on 5G after that, possibly a hardware fault and coincidence with the iOS 15.5 update, but I’d then book into Apple and explain you’ve taken the above steps, let them run a diagnostics on your phone.

Just updated my 13pm, no difference so far, I’ll see how the battery is doing. May be placebo, animations seem a little laggy?

Update: the animations do feel slower
I think I’ll downgrade to 15.4.1, any way without losing data? I have no backup.

I have an internal mail server (not reachable from the internet), that uses a self generated certificate. After updating to 15.5 this certificate is no longer accepted.

Maybe Apple has additional requirements for valid certificates, but they should not change this in a minor update...

I’m sure this has been asked a million times, but how is 15.5 on battery life? Especially on the SE 2022.

15.4.1 had been great for me when it comes to battery life. I don’t wanna stir up the hornet’s nest.

I’m using a different device than you (12PM) but I share your concern about battery life, and like you 15.4.1 was great for battery on my device.

I took the plunge when Apple released the RC of 15.5 to public beta testers, and battery life has been just as good on my device as it was under 15.4.1.

I'm going to update my iPad and see how that goes. If all goes well for a day, then the iPhone. I'll be watching this thread for gotchas. I upgraded to Monterey 14.4 and so far so good. Performance seems to have improved a bit. I also noticed that it uses more RAM than 14.3.1 but I have a lot of RAM on the system so that's not necessarily a problem.

You're going to downgrade because animations feel slower?

Phone’s quite new and I don’t have tons of data on it to save, also quite curious to do it because it’s been ages since the last time I did a downgrade. I’ll wait a little more tho to really see if it’s worth the hassle.

yes. its fast and easy...

Reinstall or downgrade the iOS.

• Download the iOS of choice, so for you 15.4.1 IPSW file
• Do an encrypted backup to computer or not.
• Use finder, hold alt, press “check for update” button and select that IPSW file,
and Install.

No data, apps, settings are touched.
It's just the iOS reinstalled.

Enter at your won risk though without a back up!!!
IF something were to go wrong, you could brick your phone and lose stuff.
I would always recommend a full encrypted back up to computer first.

The downgrade takes about 10-15 mins once you've downloaded the IPSW file.

Thanks for the tutorial.
I might give it a try later!

Hi lads! I know the battery is again a hot topic for every other release than 15.4.1, but I need to ask. I'm using an iPhone 13 Pro. I decided to give the RC a chance and put the Beta profile on my phone. The battery life is awful. I've unplugged my device at 8 AM in the morning, I just went back home from work where I need to admit that I have a pretty Low Signal, but I'm connected to the Wi-Fi all day. It's 6:22PM and I'm at 44%. I've used my phone for calls, mails, messages and light social media during my workday. I'm thinking of downgrading to 15.4.1, any advice? Thanks a mil!

I’ve used my iPad min for about 15 minutes after the upgrade and it feels faster. I’m mainly doing email, web browsing and notes. Typing seems faster too as the virtual keyboard feels more responsive than in the past.

I will need a few days to comment on battery life as my iPad min 5 needs a new battery.

One major caveat: always make sure you make an encrypted backup of your device before you upgrade to a new version, not afterward; macOS may refuse to restore a backup made on a newer version if you subsequently downgrade or restore to an older build. (iOS will definitely refuse to restore an iCloud backup made on a newer version than what the device is currently running.)

If your only backup is from a device running the newer software, you may be stuck with either using that version with all of your data (and bugs), downgrading and hoping it doesn't break anything (it probably will), or restoring to the older version and setting up as a new device.

And ladies.

My bat was seeing worse drain coming from 15.4.1 to 15.5RC.

I reinstalled iOS 15.5 and it’s sorted things out. No idea why I needed to do that again. But it worked.

True. Yes.

Goes without saying though having a back up for every iOS update when on betas and then official releases, no? I hope that’s common practise if your playing around in this park.

I suspect that we'd be unpleasantly surprised to learn just how many folks install betas without making any kind of backup first, or who are counting on iCloud Backup to save them if something goes wrong (not knowing that iOS won't restore newer-version backups to an older-version device).
