I am pretty sure that is by design and has been this way for quite some time as long as the icloud photo library function is enabled. From what I remember, if you disable the icloud photo library function, you should be able to access the photos from within the DCIM folder when connected to a PC but that option is hidden with the icloud function turned on.
Not sure. It was working on 14.7 beta 2 when I backed up my photos immediately before installing 15.0.

My problem is that when I tether my PC to my iPhone my PC doesn’t see any photos under DCIM. May be related.
The thing is I am a new iCloud Photos user and I really don’t know what’s at fault here. Uploaded all my photos that I have on my PC to iCloud (that’s many gbs to be exact), turned on Photo Library from iCloud on PC and turned on Photo Library from my devices as well. Seems so straightforward yet it isn’t working because I can’t see the uploaded photos on my iDevices. The only thing I can blame is the beta right now but I wanted to be sure that I’ve done everything correctly

So my alarms are not working, overslept twice. I ended up setting one this morning on the iPad to make sure it was working and it did. Anyone have issues with alarms not sounding off?
You scared me (I have an important new doctor appointment in the morning!), but just tested an alarm on my XS and it worked fine. Whew (for m). I wonder what's causing the problem for you?

With iCloud turned on you should see all future photos on your iDevices. Not sure that older photos will get synced across.

It should be pretty straight forward;

1. Login to the same icloud account across all devices
2. Turn on iCloud Photos
3. Ensure that you have enough cloud storage for your photo library

Now, depending on the size of your library, it might take quite some time to upload all of your photos to the cloud. Once that is complete, they should be available on any device that is logged into the same icloud account with the photo's option turned on. Might be a network issue but so far, it is working for me between the following;

Iphone 12 Pro on iOS 14.4.2 and Ipad Air 2 on iOS 15db1

I can see past photos from my iPhone syncing to the PC so I think that’s not the case.

That’s exactly what I’ve done. My PC library is uploaded on iCloud successfully. If I go to my iCloud.com from an ipad/iPhone I can see the photos I uploaded from the computer. But they are nowhere to be found in the Photos App. I have a spare iPad running iOS14.6, I ‘ll see if they sync there.

if it were a network issue due to the size of the library (which is quite large tbh), at least one photo would have synced so far, like what the hell hahahah. I will check my spare iPad

If it still will not work, I would contact apple support. It can be a pain but I have had some icloud issues resolved on my account in the past. It should just work but the magic word here is; "Should" haha.

Yup it works on ipad runnning 14.6. I believe it has to do with the beta. I will wait for the next beta and if it’s not resolved I will contact support although they will tell me not to run betas I’m sure. It’s not a show stopper I can leave without my library for a while now that I know it’s not my fault hahah

Since it is just the beta that is bugged, it would be best to file a report with the feedback app to be honest. Let them know of the issue so that hopefully they can resolve it sometime during the development phase.

Anyone else noticed issues with text selection in reply boxes on forums?

Sometimes the selection refuses to drop to a lower line and other times it jumps the page so that the reply box disappears under the keyboard.

This very message will only allow me to select a single line, won’t jump to the line above or below.

It’s under the iCloud settings

Settings > Your Name > iCloud

It’s also under the Wi-Fi and cellular settings, click the name of the cellular network or the ‘I’ next to the Wi-Fi network. I had to turn that all off.

Interesting, so you can either turn it off all together in iCloud Settings (does that setting carry over to other devices?), or you can turn it off per SSID Connection? That's cool. So you can basically turn it off at home and then leave it on overall everywhere else? Is that how that would work?

My alarm woke me up this morning from my iPhone 12 Pro on iOS 15.

You would turn it off at home if you have, for example, a VPN running so you don't need it?

Well it works per Wi-Fi network, so in theory you can turn it off for your home network, turn it on for your work network etc. You can specify it per network.

I'll test that later, as my network connections are horrible with it turned on so have it turned off for everything right now. On to beta 2!

Ok - Has anyone noticed on using Focus new feature.. I have a tracker on my car linked to an app that alerts me of movement. I though by setting up one of the Focus schedules like Sleep or DND and setting the app to allow would do the trick and alert me on my Apple Watch (watchOS 8) via haptic alert.

I did a test sending to myself an email (set the email app to allow) and quickly locking the iPhone screen while on Sleep and DND - The alert for the email came through on my iPhone no issues and did had the haptic.. but on my watch did not got anything on sleep mode or dnd i am not getting the haptics or even the notification came through.

Now I though with Focus will sync all the notification settings to the watch in order to have the same behaviour than the iPhone. Any one having same issue?

Thanks

right, but WHY would you turn it off on a particular wifi network (aside from degraded performance, of course!)

Going to jump on a limb here but some people are less concerned about tracking when at home, vs abroad, especially when reliant on public wifi like at a coffee house. With that said, I typically use a VPN when abroad but I host the VPN myself, so even when I am out, I am connecting to my network in my name but that way other's can't intercept the traffic.

Maybe some people have various rules/config in their router that otherwise wouldn't work.

As a related example, I disable the "Private Address" option when on my home WiFi (which would othewise scramble the MAC address) as I want my router to know who I am and allocate me the hard-coded IP address I've set.

I also noticed when turning off the “Shortcuts” notifications in Screen Time, you don’t have to wait the 45 seconds or whatever you used to have to before.
So this may answer my post. There’s still no way to toggle off that annoying notification banner at the top for phones that use custom icons?

I had a shortcut that would turn on DND for x minutes. I just tested it and it failed. However, simply re-entering the steps seems to have sorted it. It did automatically change the DND action to use the new Focus one, but it broke the chain of variables (or whatever you'd call it when passing variables from one action to another). As I say, simply redoing the steps one by one and it now works.
