lWouldn’t that also strongly depend on what websites you have open as well as the amount of open tabs and tab groups plus whatever the device is currently doing in the background?
Your opened websites have nothing to do with Safari stuttering when switching between tabs. There is absolutely no correlation.

I have an XS Max (my last iPhone before I bought a Note) and I would never put iOS 15 on it because updates on phones more than just a couple years old have always made my devices unusable.

I'm still on version 12.4!

Interesting, how many years have you been running 12.4? Is the UI still totally smooth?

I basically tried the same technique on an iPhoneX (ie never update the iOS so it doesn’t go stuttery) with 13.5 and it was perfect for 2 years from activation, then the UI went stuttery overnight, so the planned obsolescence is obviously built into the code. Maybe iOS 12 doesn’t, so it remains smooth indefinitely?

I updated my iphone X to 15.2.1 and pinch to zoom still does not work consistently. I called the apple support. The man said

  • threads like this or macroumors or reddit are not relevant to apple
  • restore the iphone via dfu
  • if the problem then still occurs, it is a hardware problem, because this problem is not listed at apple.
  • he refused to register my problem and and did not report it to apple
in other words apple does not accept software problem reports from users.

Pinch zoom takes 2-3 attempts to work doesn’t it, I have the same issue on my iPhoneX with 15.2.1.

Apple support might as well say “the solution is go and buy a new iPhone”!

I feel sorry and sad for those inflicted. I’ve never been more happy NOT updating an OS or iOS than with this update.

Very happy with my snappy iOS 14.8.1 on my iPhone Xs. This might be my last version release to stay at.

You guys with issues, good luck. Good luck!

In that case can you show a screen recording of this issue so others get a better idea what you’re on about? And are you sure the workload of the browser doesn’t impact animation performance in the same app? Will it stutter when you only have two blank start pages open?

Lag and weird gesture behavior.

ATTN PEOPLE THAT LIVE WHERE IT'S SNOWING RIGHT RIGHT

Is the snow animation in the weather app kind of stuttery/laggy for you? If you don't live where it's snowing, add Washington DC and let me know if the snow animation is smooth or if it's kind of stuttery looking. Thanks.

Okay cool, I thought I was going crazy. Definitely noticeable to me. Thankfully all of the rain animations are smooth as butter, the only problem I've seen is the snow and I'm not sure what else yet.

This is taken from a Facebook comment that I saw today in an Apple group:

“[…]And then apple software side has been having issues with people complaining of memory leaks. The iPhones 13 Pros still can’t show PDFs without a stutter fest on safari and it’s been over 3 months for them to fix it. Pretty disappointed with them lately.”

Another interesting observation - the iOS 15 intermittent touch screen (where it doesn’t respond to touch) is only ever an issue when navigating around on your phone and scrolling webpages, but it NEVER comes into effect when the keyboard is up and you’re typing (if it did the phone would be unusable, and they’d have lots of unhappy customers in Apple stores complaining)

So that shows it’s software introduced and nothing to do with the actual hardware. Just another one of those things introduced to make the phone ‘feel’ old and slow, like you need to go and buy the latest model, which of course will ‘feel’ smooth and snappy to use in comparison! Thanks again Apple for trying to force an upgrade!

The touch registration affects all models of iPhone including the 13 Pro Max. The only thing you got right is that it is a software bug.

iOS 15.3 RC runs pretty good for me on iPhone 12 Pro. Still some problems with Safari, AppStore, Spotlight and touch issues but nothing major.

Do you work for Apple, or are you just a shill?!

Funny how these UI ‘bugs’ that give the impression of the phone being old and slow are always present on older devices and never get ‘fixed’..

Maybe the results Apple are due to release this week will give some clues as to why they’ve become more aggressive with planned obsolescence techniques recently.

I own multiple Apple devices and am very aware of the issues that I have encountered. The difference is I don't just complain about it on an open forum like some sort of Apple hater, much like you are doing. Or jump in threads posting conspiracy myths like you are. The anger is strong with you.
