Definite improvement running 15.3 on an iPhone X. They’ve got rid of the pinch zoom issue completely. The intermittent touch screen issue is still there, but a lot less frequent. Stutter and judder has been taken down a notch too. Still there, but not to the degree of previous iOS 15 releases.

This seems to be going in the right direction. Thank your for this update and feedback.

Can confirm that the pinch to zoom issue has been erradicated on 15.4 beta 1 and that animations seem a bit smoother. However, there is still a lot of work to be done regarding consistent sub 60fps animations but at least we are seeing progress happening.

But for some reason it feels like there will be no improvements. We were also deprived of a new feature with unlocking an iPhone without a mask. Everything pushes us to go and buy a new iPhone.

I’m not sure that’s sound logic. Do you keep buying a new version of a specific brand’s product if you keep being disappointed?

I started selling my Apple devices. I have already sold HomePod Mini, Apple Keyboard. AirPods are broken and in the trash. I'm looking for a replacement for the MacBook, maybe it will be the Dell XPS 13. If one main Apple device stops working, the whole ecosystem is f*cked. I will never again buy everything from one brand.

Before I installed iOS 15.3 on my 13 Pro Max, I was experiencing bad stuttering when scrolling the expanded descriptions in the App Store. After installing 15.3 the bad stuttering seemed to be fixed. A day later the bad stuttering returned. Well today, the bad stuttering is gone again. Interesting.

Same. I like Apple stuff, but I’m not willing to replace things every 2 years because they’ve killed the item off to try and force an upgrade.

My late 2013 MacBook Air is running macOS 10 still, but runs perfectly- totally smooth scrolling websites and feels like new. My work MacBook Pro is only a few years old with 4 x the ram yet it’s starting to see the odd judder when scrolling web pages, and it’ll only get worse.

Next laptop I buy will be non-Apple - just something good quality I can run Ubuntu on and not have to worry about planned obsolescence.

It’s harder when it comes to phones. Samsung are supposed to be just as bad as Apple for slowing down older phones to force users to upgrade, so maybe I’d stick to iPhone and just get annoyed after 2 years when the UI suddenly becomes laggy and stuttery!

They must have done something with the trackpad firmware on the Intel MacBooks in Monterey because mine feels so much more sluggish when just scrolling in Safari or Notes and three-finger select+scroll gesture works like 1 time out of 10. I'm tired of the constant updaing to the latest macOS and then reverting back to High Sierra after a month because there is always something horribly wrong.

Guys, how are things with the iOS 15.4 beta 2 ? There are improvements with stuttering of the user interface? Or it remains to wait for release 15.4 ?

I don't know if this is the usual placebo effect but to me it seems like beta 2 is MUCH smoother than beta 1.

The stuttering and framerate issues aren't completely erradicated but at least we are seeing Apple making big strides towards fixing up the performance.

That’s promising because I feel like 15.3 has been fantastic for my XS Max coming from 15.2.1.

Battery life is stabilized and good, animations much smoother and consistent than before and I no longer have some weird iMessage being in the background for hours issue anymore.

Seems like 15.4 is shaping up to be the one to get, can’t wait!

Been running 15.3.1 on an iPhoneX for the last 24 hours or so. Stutter and judder on scrolling seems even worse than on 15.3. A quick scroll on a website or YouTube and now it’s never a smooth scroll - always starts with a big stutter.

Intermittently unresponsive touch screen at least as bad as before.

Stuttery app opening animations seem about the same as before.

So for anyone on an older phone who hasn’t already moved to iOS 15 - don’t!..

Really thought it was just me, but I’m also getting a worse performance on my iPhone 13 after updating to 15.3.1. Really hoping 15.4 fixes most of this stutters.

Update after using 15.4 beta 2 for about 5 days:
The OS is slightly smoother than before but nevertheless still exhibits severe stuttering and jitter on multiple occasions.

Meanwhile, intensive 3D games run at a perfectly smooth 60fps and make Apple's OS animations look embarrassingly choppy.

One guy on the forum wrote that he had 2 Xs MAX, only one for 512 GB of memory, and the other for 64, and they were bought at the same time. And here is the iPhone with 64 GB of memory, it behaves terribly, glitches, freezes and a constant delay in animations when switching to applications. At the same time, as a 512 GB iPhone, it behaves perfectly and smoothly, as the iOS expects. Is there anyone here who has a 128, 256 or 512 storage capacity on an iPhone, and who is still the same as with a device with 64 GB of memory, that it, also bad?

My guess would be it’s only a matter of time until the other suddenly starts stuttering and juddering, even without upgrading the iOS again.

You seem to get about 2 years from activation that the phone UI runs smoothly, but it’s not going to be exact - it’ll be 2 years + a random period, otherwise it would be too obvious.

Would be good if the user could report back on this though when it happens!

I have an iPhone 13 pro max. It doesn’t happen all the time, and it’s a quick frame drop. Wonder if this has been fixed in 15.4
