I loaded the IPSW on my phone just to play around with it. I also have have the music settings bug but don’t have the storage bug.

The biggest disappointment for me is just how underwhelming this update is. You’d be hard pressed to find some really useful additions in iOS 15.0 that aren’t just tiny little things on the surface. I already knew this but man when you are using it wow is it underwhelming.

Its seriously should just be iOS 14.9.
Welcome to the Apple of the 2020s where Apple is committed to doing the least amount in improving OSes and hardware. They use marketing hype and pure BS to convince the biggest fans that more was done, but the rest of us are smart enough to see just how minor and incremental they really are. Apple, where mediocrity is taken to the extreme…

Yeah, really disappointing. I get that they can only do so much each and every year, but iOS15 is one of the tiniest, most meaningless updates I’ve installed in a long time (at least that I can remember). I get that a lot of them the past few years have been pretty weak, but this one is just a whole new level of meh.

I'm hoping my upgrade experience is one of the smooth ones, because I really want the text selection magnifier back.

Yeah this release candidate is trash. I’m seriously dumbfounded that this is all Apple can come up with in a year’s time. Its honestly just getting sad at this point. iOS15, with the minor amount of changes it brings, should be if nothing else a spectacular version of iOS 14 that zips along. Instead we get this sludge…..
We have to take it into account that everyone worked from home for a long time, which unfortunately really reduced their productivity by a lot.

I think that the richest tech company in the world would be fine using technology to bring their very best each day to collaborate over video and give us something besides this buggy mess.

That’s whats really sad about this update. Apple bringing back features that they for reasons unknown removed and is now brining them back gets people excited. The alarm clock scrolling wheel coming back is another example of this.

What you mean? I’m using the RC and I have it?

Is that not what you mean?

This is something people assume when they don't have much experience working from home. It is not true though for the vast majority of companies. Any good employer will monitor the work being done by remote employees in some fashion. You can't just slack off all day every day and keep the job.

Exactly. So many people assume working from home means slacking off and watching telly for a while when meant to be working lol.

I disagree. For us, it’s increased productivity and we’re a much smaller company.
It's also possible that your company is better suited to working remotely. Apple is structured around close collaboration between hardware and software teams, which probably means that a lot of people need to be physically present in the same room to hash everything out. I don't think it's something that can be replicated over a video call and I suspect we are starting to see the limitations of this for Apple, which would explain why Tim Cook is so anxious to have everyone back in the office. He knows...

We’re heavily focused on collaborating as well, between us and 5 other departments. It’s a large company, but not as large as Apple, but some of our teams are probably larger.

Considering it is a free update, does it honestly matter what version number it carries? Bugs not withstanding, it kind of makes sense that as time progresses, iOS updates will become more of a refinement than a laundry list of outright changes. Increasing the version number is really just marketing and since that marketing isn't for a paid product, who cares?

It also doesn't help that Apple is on a yearly release schedule for major OS versions. Since they are scheduled, it only adds credence to the idea that some releases won't be a earth shattering as others. They really need to release new versions when there are enough features available to call for it.

Some people just like to be heavily negative, like they get joy out of being so. Whereas it’s better to see positives as well as negatives. Leave them be.

It’s slower for me and battery sucks. I was expecting a new update but alas nothing
I did an "Erase of all contents and settings" and a clean setup without restoring the backup. Made a world of difference. On my iPad Pro 10.5, it ran out of battery life mid-afternoon, now at 60% at bedtime.
Might do the same on my iPhone, when I have the time. But it's a huge PITA, since I have about 400 apps on there.
This is also a good time to do house cleaning.
Helpful:
  1. A content caching Mac in your house.
  2. Apple Configurator 2 to export and App Listing for future reference.

Dude I really don’t need you chiming in and calling me a negative person. You are way out of line and because I don’t happen to burst a blood vessel like you do over every little thing Apple does you aren’t in a position to condescendingly call me a negative person.

How about be a mature adult and not talk garbage about other members in the forum ok? Thanks.

Do you happen to know of an OS update on Android that isn’t free?

And yes I agree that the yearly schedule is too fast to have major things happen, but its not like iOS has seen major changes over the past 5 even 6 years. They’ve had plenty of time to make some major changes for the better and just haven’t done it. I like iOS and its all I use but that doens’t mean Apple should just be complacent and not try to give us something groundbreaking once in a while.

I think you’re the one bursting blood vessels as you are very heavy handed in your negativity, and don’t consider the fact that the issues are not universal.

The fact you can’t take a bit of ribbing bants shows how negative you are. Lighten up a little. You can state your issues without going borderline vitriolic mate.

Lol ok bud whatever you say. I’m not the one insulting other members in here but you do you pal. See ya!

Learn the difference between ribbing and insulting 😜 as I was doing the former, not the latter. It was in jest at all the people being all doom and gloom, and that this happens every year.

Haha...wut?

I wasn't comparing iOS to Android or anything else for that matter. But to answer your question, no I am not aware of any Android updates that cost money either. What I do know is that there are plenty of android devices that with irregular or even non-existent updates. Not really the platform to be emulating in terms of software updates.

My original point is that since it isn't paid for, who cares what it is named. Definitely not something to be angry about from where I am sitting. Sorry that wasn't more clear.

Who said anyone was angry? I don’t see the point in having these forums if to not discuss issues and opinions. If some people can’t take others being critical of Apple when its warranted then this isn’t the place for them.

You sound angry in your posting style. A little aggressive. See, wasn’t just me that thinks you’re angry.

there’s being critical, but then there’s your posts, which are more angry hatred in tone.

Thank you for enlightening me 🙄

Hahaha, ok. Because I said I think iOS15 is underwhelming I’m filled with hatred. Got it.
