how I see it, is it’s just a good gauge of where we are though no? let’s you judge what could be next as we close in. like at this stage, some feel an “A” build will come in first, before the “RC”. And others feel it’s ready for an “RC” build regardless of the jump from “D”.

So I’m really interested in this, as plain and boring as it might be. Saying that, do we not think then that a beta needs to hit an “A” build to get final QC sign off at Apple, would that not be a goal in their stages before public official release do we think?

I’ll only ever ask once 😉

I don't track this, but a good answer to your final question would be whether every last beta of an iOS release was an "A" build.
~95% of GM/RC/public release comes after an 'A' build. There has been exceptions and are very rare.

Pretty much they go to an “A” build, looking all the way back through to iOS 13 and 12. Some jump from “C” to “RC/GM”, so that is possible also.

Most likely, will be an “A” build then this week, before an “RC”. (If this data is anything to go by following the average) But then it’s also certainly possible to go from the “D” build to “RC” so we might see that.

Does anyone know when they are going to release iOS 15.1? Apple engineers must have work working on all the problems that this new version brings because they are taking too long ...

I also wonder if it's a new product intro that forced the release... That's too much effort to research, lol
For me too, but I would bet that most every iOS product launch has an associated iOS major or point release within 2 weeks of the launch.

There's only been three betas.

X.1 updates can go as high as 7 or 8 before release, with weekly updates typically starting at beta 4 or 5. Chances are it'll be out sooner rather than later considering the features promised for the fall are in it.

I can't be the only one who could not care less about the letter at the end of the build number — so what if it took one try or twenty tries to get the build through QA? It's almost certainly the same "percentage of tests passed" threshold no matter how many times they put it through the wringer, so an "A" build that passes, say, 95% of QA tests is not necessarily any better (or worse) than a "G" build that passes 95% of QA tests; all it means is that they lucked out on the "A" build (or had more time to work on bugfixes up front rather than new feature implementation) and didn't have to go back and make a bunch of minor fixes to get it over the threshold that time.
