It's almost like Apple is sticking with a pattern they've been reasonably consistent with for the last few years...

LOL. yes. Until Banglazed pulled his hit and run this morning, I was completely off the “this week” bandwagon.

Get out with that negativity
Whats there negative about it? I just made my guess.
Merely wishing for something improbable does make one positive by itself!

Although I agree, it might have dampened your spirits. ?

No updates OTA or on the Dev Portal.. I'd say it'd safe to speculate Beta 5 would come next week.

Yes, but isn't it almost like Apple is sticking with a pattern they've been reasonably consistent with for the last few years?

We still have 4pm EST ! dont lose hope
Or, expect nothing...and be pleasantly surprised.

Whatever works best for you!

To me, refreshing the dev portal, the MR front-page, this thread, and/or the iOS update menu would be like watching paint dry...that said, I very much appreciate those who might get a kick out of it. Different strokes! :)

I have no idea about the feasibility/legality of this, but it'd be cool if one day we could set up a "pool" alongside this thread where:
  • for an weekly entry fee of $1,
  • you could literally put your money where your mouth is and "bet" on which day that "cycle" you're confident the beta will be released.
  • once you select your predicted, you're locked in, no changes.
  • you can only back a single day, no hedging (and no times, just days, to keep it from getting too complex)
  • you have to buy in before midnight Monday PDT, so you can't use the lack of a release on a prior day that same week to inform your choice
  • they day you literally backed with your dollar/prediction would be visible in your signature
  • each prediction day then gathers it's own balance made up of those who pledged to that day
  • the winning day then gets the balance of all the money pledged for that week
  • the members of the winning day then vote on which charity/cause (for example, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, Red Cross, World Wildlife Fund, etc) gets the balance for that week
  • if an individual poster crosses some threshold for participation ($20 or whatever), they get a little tag or whatever
I'm guessing it isn't possible for a whole host of reasons, but I think a lot of us get at least a $1/week value out of this thread that juicing it up a bit would be even more fun...and benefit a good cause.

Maybe someday!

There are two groups of people in this thread. The ones that genuinely come to hang out and have fun guessing and anticipating beta releases, and the ones that come here that every time someone says anything they try to correct them or crush their dreams. NOBODY know when apple is going to drop a beta. All the negative people just let people have their fun and you feel like being negative just keep it to yourself.

This, no one knows. We’re all taking guesses. Let’s calm down.

Might that be an extreme, highly polarizing and uncharitable way to look at it, though?

Another way to interpret this could be "disagreeing". It's not really positive or negative to disagree, it's simply a different perspective. It'd be different if posts said things like "only an idiot with no brain would think the beta is coming out this week...", but I haven't seen that.

I think your point about nobody knows anything is right, and a good one. Plus, because of that premise—no one is sure—there is really no "correcting" possible.

At the same time, I would hope nobody out there would let a post on a message board—this or any—"crush their dreams".

Yup, There are plenty of folks that tend to rely more on history and precedence from prior beta releases. It is true that the weekly beta cycle USUALLY starts after Beta 5. And it is ALSO true that it's come out after Beta 4.. Buuuut more so after the 5th beta than the 4th. If I was a gambling man, I'd put most of my $ on next week.

Truth, and the closer to the final release, the more rancorous the conversation gets. The conversation seems to be devolving sooner this year though.

I think the relative lack of features and the stability of iOS 15 so far has caused many to seek other outlets for their aggressions!

Take it all with a pinch of salt blue eyes. I’ve got blue eyes…Anyway. This whole thread cracks me up. Take a step back and look it and see it from a distance for all its redonculousness.

I like to guess, but I try to be realistic about it.

It’s a little offensive that some users want to portray anyone that wants to use logic in their speculation as being negative and shouldn’t contribute to the thread….

If a beta comes out before when I’m expecting it, it’s a treat. ?

If anyone takes what I said offensive then that shows that they are part of the latter group. Notice I didn’t call anybody out. I let them show themselves by responding negatively to what I said. Just saying.
